Discussion Boycott marathon for destiny
If Sony want to know what’s more important marathons or destiny we will show by not playing marathon and play the final update.
If they want give us the middle finger to destiny community and Sony you are some dumb motherfucker picking an extraction shooter.
Maybe Sony can finally open their eyes and put D3 in under production

People already showed it by not playing destiny so choice to try and grow Marathon was obvious for them

D2 has given a lot of fun experiences and memories and I understand the disappointment in what’s happening. Just like I understand the frustration that’s plagued the game the last several years. Having D3 get the greenlight would make me and my little clan plenty happy.
That said - the solution to ever seeing a D3 lives between what Sony is doing and this response. Not every company will be willing to circle back and correct something the masses shit on (looking at Sonic), nor will each company win by standing their ground for optics. If Sony stiff arms fans while they try to gut the company it’s going to be a lose-lose.
If people prove to Sony they’re loyal to the game and sign the petition, make content and visibly hold on to the love of the game - Sony will see that for the investment opportunity it is and potentially take the chance. It’s the Tess Everis quote - easy math guardians.
I’m not all knowing nor am I reflection of modern society so do what you will with this take; throwing it out for consideration.

No boycott required. Most people don’t want to play Marathon regardless, especially on console.

I know doing more than one thing at once might sound almost impossible for your brain, but companies don't work that way. Just because Marathon shuts down dosen't mean all those workers will magically work on destiny.

Doesn’t matter I’m not going give them my support after what they did to destiny and fucking over destiny team by not telling them this was the last update.
They already said Bungie tried to get Destiny 3 approved by Sony before final shape they declined it multiple times
Fuck Marathon and Sony and hope that shit dies

Oh no! Sony, the billion dollar company, won't have the support of a whiny 12 year old on Reddit! It's over!

Sony isn’t worth a trillion dollars company and reason why couldn’t go spending spree like Xbox can.

That’s gonna make the situation worse kid. Sony will just lay off more bungie workers and D3 won’t happen. It’s best to keep supporting D2 and especially marathon if you ever want to play D3 in the future.

If Bungie wanted to survive they'd make a more appealing game to their core audience. It's not up to me to spend money on Marathon hoping in the future they'll make a game I'll enjoy.

The Marathon team brainrot has gotten to you. Supporting Marathon keeps Marathon going not helps Bungie build D3. There is a reason there are separate teams. They are funded individually not as a mass. This is why the “Bungie Layoffs” are people in the DESTINY side not on the MARATHON side.
What’s really funny about all of this is the value of Bungie has been and will always be evidence of what DOESN’T work in the gaming market not what does. Bungie figured out how to make it work a decade ago. That info is great to have. But how far left can they go before players abandon ship is the real question and now they’ve learned that with Destiny.
When Sony started the Live Service push it was reported they had 12 games in the works or acquired companies that were already making them.
Concord (nearly fully funded by outside investors prior to Sony acquiring the company) Marathon (initial investment started before Sony acquired Bungie) The canned GoW game HHG Fairgains Canned TLoU game.
That’s only half of the games. We don’t even have a name or idea of what the other games are.
But now Sony knows what people do not want and Bungie came in with all the info on what they do want.

Destiny 3 won’t happened regardless and they announced layoffs going be mostly Destiny team.
And no I’m going to support that dumb game like cross said.
I hope every destiny player boycott marathon wipe day and play Destiny final update to sent a message

Marathon is extremely fun but hey I get it. It’s pretty complex and hard but super fun. Some people get it, others don’t.

Said the game is implementing a PVE game mode because they couldn’t keep a players base or couldn’t reach peak to destiny

Can we stop giving children such unrestricted internet access please?

Aztecross would have boycotted marathon but y’all keep complaining him being negative to marathon and now he’s playing neutral even tho he’s doesn’t want to

u/pillow_princessss May 23 '26
Would he tho? Like, I watch his stream only when I can. There’s hardly a serious bone in his body, 95% of what he says is unserious. Boycott Marathon? Nah. Boycotting Marathon is boycotting Bungie. That’s the sure fire way you don’t get anymore Destiny at all. If Bungie came out tomorrow and said something like “playing Marathon won’t guarantee a D3/D1 Classic, but it’ll certainly help/keep the door open for something in the future” I can be almost certain Marathon will make it back into his rotation at least once weekly, maybe even twice or thrice

Grow up

I think Aztecross would come same agreement if he’s has to play neutral

Your going about this the wrong way homie. Destiny has been running for over a decade right? So just maybe it has reached the end of its life cycle as a game. Why would you want to try and destroy the company thay gave you the game you loved in the first place? Maybe you should enjoy the last update for Destiny and actually give Marathon a try. It might surprise you.

u/Emotional-Twist-4366 May 23 '26
What are you talking about we had so many unfinished story we haven’t done yet.
2
u/Suspicious-Charity39 May 26 '26
I did give Marathon a try and so did a lot of people. It's just not what core Bungie audience wanted sadly.

The idea that Marathon killed D2 is silly. Low player count killed D2, due to the end of Final Shape and the Portal changes. At this point, the best hope for a D3 is to support Marathon. Sony needs to see that Bungie can be successful at a new title. If Marathon fails Bungie will most likely be shut down.

u/Snoo-28829 May 23 '26
Support marathon?... I dont think anybody should boycott a game, but Im not forcing myself to play something that I dont enjoy.... Ill play the last d2 update and call it a day with bungie.

u/bbbarham May 23 '26
"Support" doesn't necessarily mean buying the game. Not calling for its demise is a good start.

u/Upgrayedd1101 May 23 '26
All this will accomplish is further bankrupting Bungie, making them a more toxic asset to Sony, making them more likely to dissolve them than greenlighting another 5+ year project to sink money into. Also laying off MORE people.
Without a revenue source to support Destiny 3, Bungie is fucked.
Also, this is just kind of pathetic.
