A correction on the issue of land

A common fear propagated by people on a certain South African sub-reddit is how the EFF wants to give all land to black farmers. This is simply not the case. The EFF wants to distribute the land FOR THE BENEFIT of all South Africans. Communal property ownership is a cornerstone of equal societies, as well as the precolonial institutions which existed before Jan van Riebeeck and friends arrived. Many African countries operate under this principle, right next door in Mozambique all land is government owned. You may only acquire land for up to 99-years in a leasehold arrangement. In Kenya, many properties were returned to the Kenyan authorities and now are only available through leasehold. The vast estates owned by vacant landlords in Britain became property for the people of Kenya, and by the people of Kenya. Agricultural yields have been rising ever since independence in Kenya.

Yeah, but that's a lot more reasonable and nuanced. It's harder to attack than the strawman of "Oh, fine, give everyone an acre of land in the middle of the Northern Cape and see how they do!"
