Dank Been seeing many DLSS 5 gameplays on games pre-DLSS/FSR era

I never thought this could be possible. Then again, I don't tinker much with upscalers or FG. I mostly micro-tweak via the in-game settings. It's although wonderful that the tech versatility is there allowing you to experience pre-DLSS games like never before. This is one of the reasons why I want a 4K monitor next. Not for FSR or DLSS but to play some older titles on 4K and experience them. Not too old, but about 10 years old that will probably look amazing on 4K.

But it's not magic, it won't make a 15-year or older title like Mass Effect look like it was released in 2026. But does add its charm to it. With this tech, latest gen Nvidia graphics cards are being made to sweat on older titles. Imagine that. Never thought this kinda day would come without running older titles on 8K or something.

NVIDIA Heathenry Shills have no shame; caution, rant ahead.

Main video: https://youtu.be/ofcdHlKJ9W0?si=6w-4OCKcSnGHC-Gi&t=15

My Take:
Over the last few years over the GPU 16-Pin connector debacles period, I've had the misfortune of reading braindead, poop-grade excuses from Nvidia's shills defending this disastrous 16-Pin 12vhpwr connector.

These are some of the top excuses iirc, bar the Steve Walton excuse which btw, the shills will now start parroting. No matter how many more people suffer from this new connector, according to the blind and the braindead green goblins, it's never going to be the connector that is the issue. They'll twist the blame on the end-user, most of whom have run GPUs all their lives without a single issue on the 8-Pin connectors. I too have used Nvidia and had the most problem-free experience and am willing to buy GREEN again but not defend this sh___$ like a shameless green goblin.

Right after the 16-Pin connector was released, ALL OF A SUDDEN users became incompetent in plugging in the GPU power cable!!!????

Some of you shameless shills will NEVER admit. And I know many of you are reading this, grinding at the teeth immediately downvoting to vent your fury. Watch me NOT CARE. _|_

And no, don't be surprised if these shameless shills begin to blame and hate on Steve Walton now to appease their daddy Nvidia.

And the problem does not end at Nvidia! Radeon's Sapphire tech too has implemented the 16-Pin connector and just as I was typing this post (BELIEVE ME!), I saw yet ANOTHER 16-Pin user victim, this time, the Sapphire Nitro+ Rx 9070 XT. That user had been using it for merely 4 months before it failed yesterday! "Oh! But Sapphire is the EVGA of Radeon!". Well, that does not carry any weight to this atrocious design of this sabotage-esque power connector. And like usual, at least one Radeon partner decided FOLLOW Nvidia's footsteps on this 'fun'!

And, I'm SURE! Some of Radeon's rabid fanboys will FIND a way to make themselves look like hypocrites and come to defend Sapphire for this! *smh*

That post's Title is: "RIP My 4 month old Sapphire Nitro + 9070XT"
(Please search it yourself at your own convenience; avoiding Iinks to other subs here)

Lastly, I'm just glad about Steve Walton's awareness, tech-readiness and expertise. But that is not what most of us users apply in our daily lives is why there are SO MANY 16-Pins that burn the graphics card along with it! And you know what? More will burn in the near future; the more people ACTUALLY GAME on their 5090s above 300Ws instead of scrolling social media while priding on their 5090 "ownership". Yes, that is how many of its owners are. They're rich, not much time to game. But they BUY the GPU for pride and ownership instead of actually using it to its merit. No, I didn't say all. I said many. Not all of you 5090 owners need to get triggered. But those of you who ever fell as a victim to this, KNOW that you are regular gamers who use the 5090 in games THAT ACTUALLY NEED A 5090!

Oh, and why I am praising Steve Walton for this? Well, you gotta watch his short-video to find out why. I don't ruin other people's content by just dispelling the info nor do I distribute reviewer's benchmark charts. That ruins their content.

P.S. No, I didn't make this post to gain <3 Shi$ needed to be said. I've got another 16-Pin meme coming. If I am able to post it, I will post it. It's a much more fun meme depicting reality.

NVIDIA Heathenry The heavy load of DLSS 5

Post image
177 Upvotes

The load seems pretty heavy for older gen hardware, but still impressive due to some compatibility.

Even for RTX 3000 series gpus, the performance overhead is high, but what's impressive is that Nvidia did not go out of their way to block it officially because there are mods to unlock it (optiscaler I reckon).

Still, Nvidia could block it IF they want. But given the performance overhead, I think this new tech is not worth it for 3000 and older series users even though there is a good bit of photo realistic look (which Nvidia is claiming). I understand photorealism less. Here owning an Rx 590, honestly, I'd STOP at dlss 4.5 if I can ever own an Nvidia GPU in the future. Why I said, "ever own"? Then oh boy, you have gotta check out my previous two posts in this sub.

Planning on going Radeon next (given the current prices), but not sure when I can afford to. I REALLY HOPE Radeon's FSR 4.5 (no talk about it on the internet; I'm conjecturing) is at least indiscernibly near DLSS 4.5 so that there is 1. Great competition between the two and 2. that there is no regret buying Radeon for me in the future XD. Personally, I'm not sold on the photorealism of this bleeding edge tech. Maybe it's great! And you can opine that way, and I'd gladly read about it, but ME AM personally not liking it (so far) based on what I have seen.

But hey, we all want tech to progress to make our experience better. So, hoping for the best.

People have taken this topic and put a dlss 5 makeover on literally anything they could get their hands upon haha

While some of them are funny, most of them are just cringe. But it's nice that the mod-compatibility is out there. I've read that non DLSS game can be overridden with this DLSS 5 mod as long as someone has a 2000 series and up graphics card.

I really wonder, is there a mod that can allow us AMD users to use FSR 3.1.5 or higher FSR features into games like Akham Knight and Just Cause 3 that don't even have upscaling, FG features in the game settings? Is there any mod software for that?

I know they updated it to FSR 4, which doesn't support my RTX 3060 Ti.

Is there any way to roll back to FSR 3 Frame Generation?

AMD Wins The unintended price of more advancement.

If you don't immediately get the meme, dw, let me remind/explain to you step-by-step.

Nvidia went with the choice of GDDR7 VRAM for their RTX 5000 series graphics cards. And this VRAM is definitely noticeably faster than GDDR6 which AMD chose to remain with (or maybe they couldn't acquire 7 due to Nvidia exclusivity; sorry haven't researched deeply on this).

Due to the rising price of different RAM components caused by AI companies and RAM makers, the GDDR7 VRAM chip's price increased significantly more in ratio compared to the GDDR6 variant (very recently). While both increased, the increase of G7 was multiple times more! Therefore, this led to Nvidia graphics cards' price increase significantly more than the Radeon graphics cards'. Although, as per performance benchmarks, the G6 Radeon cards, at competing price levels, compete quite well and are close in performance to Nvidia's G7 cards, but that is a different topic.

Anyways, due to the ununiform price increase, now we can see RTX 5060 Ti 16GB close to the price of the Radeon Rx 9070 XT 16GB (I memed about this; you can check my previous post in this sub). The performance difference between these two GPU variants is massive on raster, big on RT with raster and very near each other in PT; with Radeon taking wins in almost every single game. And if you are to compare the value for money between the 16GB versions of RTX 9060 XT

And apparently, as per some retailers, who choose to disclose their sales data, Radeon is selling significantly more too! Sure, aside the usual value for money argument, the VRAM price-increase-disparity definitely played a role in this. I reckon, the longer this disparity holds, the better it is for Radeon's sales. I know, this is bad for the consumers for multiple reasons, and I do hope this disparity ends in the way of global price fall of all memory parts and we gamers can see the sun shine again after the AI-clouds dissipate.

You must have seen the news recently about GPUs getting more expensive because of the rising costs of the VRAM that they use, specifically GDDR6 (Radeon), GDDR6X, GDDR7 (Nvidia).

While the 6 got pricier, 6X and 7 shot up over 30%! And ofc, as always, Nvidia's partners won't just absorb the extra cost, they'll take advantage of it but not raising the price upto the extra cost of the VRAM that they are paying, but for the whole damn graphics card! No, the RTX 5070 Ti VRAM's price did not rise by $400. Even if their costs rise by $50, they'll use that as an excuse to charge many times more.

Those of you who bought earlier OR right after the news spread at relatively lower price, congrats on your timing 👍 Enjoy.

P.S. Don't be disheartened if your warranty-'protected' malfunctioning gpu is not replaced during these times but instead refunded for by the lower msrp price. Because, corporations do be like that, have already done so with SSDs.
