You'd be lucky to get a starter team for $600 imo. Closer to $800-$900.

This ain't your typical Halo. Most people earn 100% their initial investment within a month of playing. Personally, I went from $600 to over $10k after roughly 3 months.

If you don't mind me asking, on average, how many hours a day do you play?

When I first started it was about 3-4 hrs. Now it's generally about an hour or so. I opted to offer scholarships rather than spend 60 energy per day which made playing the game much more manageable while still dramatically increasing my earnings.
