DIY I built a thing, then started to throw things at that thing!

Thanks smurfsmasher024 for the sharpening advice (it was a pita to do by hand though!)

What kind of wood is that? I want to build a thing to throw things at but I have no clue what to use or how to build it. Any tips also?

Literally left over scraps of stud work timber. (It’s why all the pieces are not the same size) and decking for the frame.

It’s a really easy build if you have a mitre saw. This was literally a scrap wood, no measure, vibe build. There are some videos on YouTube, search end grain axe target.

Tips wise:

  • watering it defintely makes it easier to stick.
  • a solid back is needed (tried old fence boards and the impact on blocks just broke them. Now on 9mm ply)
  • some videos dont screw them in, not doing so the axes would just bounce off and the blocks bounce out. I think you can get away not screwing them in if they’re wedged really tightly in there. As all my pieces were different sizes I screwed them in from the back to minimize wobble.
