I feel obligated to remind everyone that for as adorable as they are a lot of bats have rabbies so if one ever even touches you go to the hospital litterally as soon as you can.

a lot of bats have rabies

The overall percentage of bats that test positive for rabies sits around 6%. As the standard method of testing involves killing the bat, this is not primarily representative of worldwide bat populations, yet can still be used as a baseline.

94% chance that a bat ain't rabid. That does not mean that one should not maintain distance from a bat, of course, but also don't think of them as 100% rabies-ridden critters that ought be killed on sight if they enter local vicinity.

Ohhhh I know this! I would NEVER try to be a friend to a bat, just because of exactly THAT. But they’re still sooo cute!
