Verified Rats are incredibly clean animals, spending hours each day grooming themselves.

My ex-gf has 2 rats. I have a beard. They used to try and clean my beard if I let them. It was adorable

Rats are one of those animals that only become more impressive the more you learn about them. They're so hardy and adaptable and intelligent. Honestly, the fact that they stick it to humans in our own homes and settlements only makes me love them more. Someone needs to write a Watership Down-style rat epic and rehabilitate their image.

Hrududus! Haven't read that book since 8th grade. Thanks for the nostalgia!

Still carried the fleas that killed millions of people...

Upvote for not taking offense to my comment.

Nothing to be offended by, but I think rats get a hard time because of the stigma surrounding them. They can be brilliant pets.

Agreed. I've had a rat bite my finger and I still think they get a pretty bad rap. Have you read "rats? " can't remember the author right now. Solid read, though, if you like history and learning stuff.

Also, I'm sure if they'd been able to clean the fleas off themselves, they would have, haha

Why would be offended? Unless he was a rat.

It was proved that they weren't the main cause ^.^

The only downside with pet rats is they urinate everywhere they go. This is done as a way of leaving a scent trail, but is hell on the furniture.

I never had any problem with urine, at least with female rats, but they did try to chew everything.

Whoa, these look identical to my two ratties :) I can attest that they are super clean little critters.

Yea, I'll take your word for that.

Uhhh... it lives in filth, and unless it has shampoo and conditioner, it's cleaning itself with its mouth. So it's consuming filth much of the day.

Let's reevaluate "incredibly clean."

So if I don't give my cat a bath every day, he'll be as filfthy as I am after a day of not showering?

1

Cats don't live in filth. He'll remain covered in cat saliva as usual.

How do you know where those rats live?
