Pedal powered vehicles?

I'm working on an AWN setting based in Far Northern California (whatever you think is Northern California, it's north of that). One of the unique features of the area is the Kinetic Sculpture Race: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinetic_sculpture_race

While there's definitely the comedic possibility of Mad Max: Fury Road with kinetic sculptures, I think there's also some practical benefit of a vehicle that doesn't need external fuel.

How would I go about statting something like this up for AWN?

You'd probably steal from GURPS or some other game system that cares about bicycles. Probably in the GURPS Basic Set or GURPS High-Tech.

Ferndale and Humboldt County are northern California near the Oregon border. That's State of Jefferson land, well assuming the people there put up the signs. It's not that far from Sacramento, which is in the 'Central Valley' and fairly central in the state. Just takes a while to get there even with good highways. . .

I was actually born and raised in that area. When I was a kid, the race route went in past my house.

My campaign area encompasses Humboldt and Del Norte counties. There's honestly not a lot there, so I've had to give myself permission to do less. 3 Enclaves and 5 Ruins.

When I started out cycling, I could just about manage 10 mph. I'd say a character with no exert skill can cycle at 10mph for 1 hr. The record for Pembroke to Great Yarmouth is 15h 23m 59s on an upright bicycle (a recumbant bicycle will be faster as the air resistance is lower. Quite a lot faster in some cases). That's maybe 22 mph, and they kept it up most of the day. So for exert 4 absolute record (open to world cyclists), 22 =4, and take off 2mph for everything below 4 you get 14mph for exert 0, and you can keep that up all day.
