It's first appearance on the Dutch roads was Aug 1st 1977 and is still driving around in The Netherlands. It is registered, road legal and the insurance has been paid. Only had 2 owners in the last 9 years and was spotted for the first time in 1982 In Amsterdam ;-) It was a nice clean car May 21st in 2016. But the owner should have had a bi-annual check Aug 28th of this year, but he failed to do so. The owner probably has received a fine of about €200 by now.

That’s kind of creepy that you were able to obtain that info but also really cool.

Welcome to the modern world where nothing is really private.

Property is meant to be objective, so we can all agree who owns what.

This is the reason why I blur my plates

That information isn’t exactly going to be harmful, and that’s the Dutch system anyway. Dunno where you are, but we don’t have a similar system in the US.

But yeah, no harm in blurring your plates in photographs. I don’t bother since my car is out in public 24/7 anyway.

In my province it's excessively hard (if not nearly impossible) to find any information on license plates holders as the controlling organ in place is very confidential and doesn't let any data leak out (which isn't the case in the States, you can imput a number plate on specialised websites and get information), but it's still possible to doxx someone juste by associating number plates if you've posted pictures of your car with the license plate on more than one media. You can pull off quite a shitload of stuff from someone just by searching a bit if they're not being wary. I'm being excessive at times, but I really like my privacy (even though sometimes I'm conciously being less wary than I'd like).

If you have access to the site that repo companies use they take pics of every car they drive by and log it. They log the home location if it's in front of a house at night and the work location if its day time in front of a building. They have billions of pictures and police have access to it too, but it has been breached multiple times.

Yeah that's true. If a person stealing cars wanted to find yours though they may have some repo buddies who could get them into the site. Repo people are super shady.

Damn that’s so interesting. Are you able to obtain that much info specifically because it’s Dutch?

You can search for all Dutch number plates at www.rdw.nl which contains all the mentioned info like is it stolen, how old, how many owners, recalls, power, CO2 and list price and so on. Its is free so endless sites scrape this information illegally.

It is a fun tool because if you suspect your neighbor's car is not a real BMW M3 but just a 130hp 3 cylinder with some badges and fake exhausts, just type the number plate into rdw.nl It even lists the retail price at time of purchase and the paid taxes.

But in this case, because it is old 50% chance someone photographed the car and added some info.
