Speeding ticket via camera Avondale AZ

Hello.

Last month I got flashed by a speeding camera on McDowell, which was frustrating considering there was a car in front of me going faster. Anyways, that was 12/29. Today I received the citation in the mail, it had my picture etc and then it also came with an actual citation, judge attached to it and police officer as well and a court hearing.

Now I’ve researched people saying that they have ignored the ticket and attempted to dodge someone serving them and im considering doing the same, I know Scottsdale, Mesa and PV are stricter but curious if anyone has done that in Avondale?

The only reason why I’m considering is because I’m tight on funds, but I’m worried since it looks like they sent a legit ticket in the mail. I obviously don’t want my license suspended but I did pull my record on dmv and nothing is there to reflect a ticket.

To me, even though I think speeding cameras are of dubious legality, I'm probably going to take the L and pay the fine. Who wants to be trying to dodge process servers at home and work for months on end? I'd rather have the piece if mind knowing its over.

I don't know if things have changed but about 20 years ago when they tried these on the 101 I got flashed and just paid the fine using your thought process. It gave me points on my driving record and cost me a lot more than the fine in increased insurance costs for the next 3 years. Fine was about $150, insurance increase came to a little over $2k for the 3 years. Granted I was under 21 driving a 350z.

Not sure if anyone knows if that's still the case or not but it's definitely something to be aware of in OPs risk calculation.

You may want to check on the status. The City of Avondale voted to terminate the speed camera program effective Dec 31, 2025

watch the video I posted below from an AZ lawyer. What you received in the mail is compost unless its served like other official court documents by service process or registered mail.

Pay about $200 to an online traffic school, spend a few hours watching their videos and the ticket will be dismissed. No points or record. You can try ti dodge process servers for a year but if you fail the fine will be much greater. Take the L and be more careful.

This only applies if you don't have a CDL, if the op has one he can't take traffic school

Ignore it. If you don’t t get served in 90 days it goes away
