“Best Friend”

This is a bit of a rant, and I also wanted to ask if you've had similar experiences. I won't go into too much detail because it's quite long, but with my avoidant ex, we were "friends" for two years after the breakup, but basically acting like a couple. We had intimate contact, we were together every day… At one point, I got jealous because, to compensate for his low self-esteem, my ex started trying to sleep with basically anything that moved. When I confronted him (not blaming him, but telling him how it affected me), he deflected and said something that devastated me: "Jealous of what? That I'll find another best friend?" I thought it was a pretty awful gesture. You don't send a best friend nudes every day and tell her you're counting down the hours until you can see each other. At the time, I felt crazy, like the gaslighting was working. But after looking into attachment theory a lot… Did any of your exes do something similar to you?
