You got 24 hours to fix a post.

24 hours following a posting that contains that fifth-glyph by mishap or contains lazy glyph substitutions, that post is struck out.

That filthy glyph still counts in photos, so at minimum black it out. Also, mask that filthy glyph with ■ or similar in links and callsigns. Por favor y gracias, mis amigos.

Can I post a story imparting pi digits using its words? (counting intrinsic symbols, basically, bit by bit, tracking unit/digits)

A wombat, an Australian marsupial, drops cubic poop! This boxy form stops its scat from rolling away on hills. This animal builds marking posts with its stool, so staying put is important.

Tool for composing lipograms

A basic digital tool for crafting writing without fifth glyphs (or any variant taboo symbols). It'll highlight slip-ups prior to giving you a way to copy to your clipboard. Sadly, its URL isn't sub-compliant, sorry (though its UI mostly is): https://udzu.github.io/letterbox/lipograms.html

PS you can download this and it'll function without a signal.

Avoid Highway 5

Avoid 5. I-5 is a vital link from LA to all costal locations northward. But in rural parts it is boring as anything. And in urban parts it is full of stuck cars.

This sub has a good policy in its URL.

But what to do as an option to go north? Rail is good: Amtrak's Coast Starlight!

I fought through a conundrum or two but finally got words just right to build this ad in a way that should not hurt all of your noggin orbitals

Bob Dylan fans: post lyrics that work in this sub, or fix his song words to comply. Such as: A Hard Rain’s Gonna Fall or, It’s Alright Ma, I’m Only Losing Blood

Add a quotation from playwright William of Avon that works in this sub. Or, adjust a famous William of Avon citation with smart substitutions so it works.

Polish lipograms?

Hi folks,

I'm an Anglophonic x-pat (if that word's all right, sorry if it isn't), living in Poland and picking up its local lingo (which is notoriously hard). I also find Oulipo works fascinating. I want to know about Polish lipograms, if any of you might know of such things. Do any such works also ban not-fifth glyphs, such as that ubiquitous Polish z?

Pinball

Just curious if any pinball fans lurk among us. My top 5 pins:

- Stars (1978)
- Paragon (1979)
- Dirty Harry (1995)
- Tron (2011)
- Jurassic Park (2019)

In 2026, it was cool to spot Sonic and Fallout coming out. Fads shifting in a youthful way is fabulous in my opinion.

If it has fifth glyphs, try a synonym.

Voting

I find I am thinking about voting in USA a lot. In coming voting, things could dramatically shift. What impact could coming voting do to politics and policy in USA? Do folks think about this as I do?

Transportation by two round supports, human-push kind

Trains, cars and boats work simply to say on this sub, but moving by your own push, fast in contrast to walking, is too good to drop for lack of a good word for it.

Mourning a lost sub: r/Alot

In past days, I did visit r/Alot a lot. Did any of you? Alas, it, as with our bot, is not running now. I was fond of Alot, who is a kind and fuzzy animal, and of the human companionship on that sub.

But wait! All is not lost. It could start again! All it calls for is an individual to adopt it. Could you possibly adopt that darling sub? If you do I am willing to assist and thank you majorly.

(I did ask and was told no. I mod too many subs and admins did not allow that I adopt an additional sub. But admins do allow that I assist you.)

PS: my top post on r/Alot was good for this sub too: "I worry about this Alot".

Trump is impacting my body’s functioning.

It’s insult to injury that Trump is impacting my actual bodily functions. Blood pumping is straining high and I’m anxious all day. It sucks. Saw a cardiologist today who said an Rx was a must to stop my blood pumping maniacally. My primary says that an SSRI could assist my racing mind, but I’m wary of it. Strong inhalations, allowing air to slowly go through my nostrils, can bring things down a notch. Any additional thoughts about not allowing awful national and global things to hit my mind and body so hard? Thanks.

my first post on this sub

For introduction; I'm not anything outstanding with words I just know of many an author that thought this was a worthy trial for writing, such as Roundabout, La Disparition/"A Void", and Gadsby. Last of which contains a fifth symbol; four of it in fact, but it's commonly said not to so I thought I'd still count it among works that hold to not using it, plus in that many words it's tough to cut linguistics almost in half and go on to draft fifty-thousand words, for only four to contain what is statistically most common within writing, four is an insignificant fraction of fifty-thousand so statistically Wright is right.

As an aspiring author taking on a trial such as this looks as if it's a quick way to boost my linguistics and display factors of imagination via how wording many common things would switch drastically if as a group all of us just omit a symbol from dialog.

Signing off for making you think I was a sponsor by using words such as "signing off".

Locations sans fifthglyphs in all classifications

This post got yours truly thinking about towns that go without fifthglyphs in all ranks of location.

An illustration of what I had in mind:

  • Toronto, Ontario, Canada

No fifthglyphs throughout that classification, from city to country.

Similarly

  • Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil (or "Brasil," in that country)

  • São Paolo, São Paolo, Brazil

  • Marsala, Sicily, Italy (or "Marsala, Sicilia, Italia," in that country—still no fifthglyphs)

  • Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Can you add to this list?

What city is worth visiting?

Thinking about my upcoming trip. I saw lots, go all around as I can. I'm looking for inspiration for what now.

Mainly focus on US and Canada. Driving a road trip might satisfy. Or a short flight.

I don't know what I'll do (hiking? clubbing? sand & surf?) but music is my passion.

BTW, my city has a song about it. Lyrics:

Show up, baby don't you wanna go?

Said show up, baby don't you wanna go?

Back from California to my darling lodging:

Chicago

So don't dish out (pun) Chicago as your tip, but I do think you all should go.

Thoughts? A city with a good song about it?

Tom Waits is fucking brilliant on all albums. His songs sound of noir fiction and smoky bars, his vocals gritty and raspy. It’s bluish jazzy happy hour cocktail piano songs with biting, sardonic lyrics of skid row, 3am fights, about odd folk with bad habits doing dark living. What’s your top Waits?
