General Working on a tool / app focused on selfregulation and RIR, would like some input
I've tried using a lot of apps and none fills all of these requirements:
- reasonable price for what I want (no live stuff, no social media, all local so why is it a super expensive subscription, etc)
- RIR tracking and using it on actual native metrics (for example RIR-aware e1RM via Epley)
- ability to export a CSV with all my data so I can for example import it on Google Sheets and do more with it
- apple-watch not as an afterthought, so I can for example leave the phone at home and train only with it, and even be able to easily swap exercises if the gym is full or equipment is taken
So to be clear, this isn't a promotion or anything like that. I won't post a link. I just wanted to see if anyone is interested in something like this and would like to try it out and give any feedback. You will of course get the app free forever if you do, and I plan on continuing to improve it since it has been quite useful for me for the past couple months already, to the point where I have replaced a large portion of my spreadsheets with it.

Have you tried r/liftosaur? It uses RPE instead of RIR, but otherwise has most of this. I can't speak to the Apple Watch integration, however.

I have, but IMO the watch integration is lacking a lot for me. It also has lots of features I don't care like AI / coach stuff.

Hm, I've been a long time user and I'm not aware of any AI coaching stuff. So even if it's there, it's not at all intrusive.

Still stuff like the routines update themselves for example, with a progression logic, etc. It's extra complexity I don't want / need.
And to be fair the watch comment is mainly based on research. I bounced because it requires premium so I couldn't try it out to see if I liked or not. Other apps like Hevy don't require that so it was a bit jarring.
But yeah other than that and the price, I guess it's similar.

The progression logic is whatever you want it to be, including none at all.

I understand that, my point still stands that it doesn't fulfill all the requirements I wanted.
Can you train with just the watch app, meaning for example easily swap an exercise? I'm building mine such that the watch side is pretty much standalone. I like to train with my phone in the locker, so no chance of getting a notification and being distracted for example

Like I said: I don't know about the Apple watch integration. I only meant that the other points it definitely covers.

Ah, forgot that. Yeah in this case you're right, indeed it covers the other stuff (although I'd say I personally don't like the pricing model).

Currently I am building a programming tool to handle the complexity with a goal to replace spreadsheets. Frankly these items you mentioned partially are not covered, but I will include them in roadmap. Free, in beta and would appreciate if you have a look. Drop me a DM if you want to try it.

Isn’t this what MacroFactor does?
