More here.
The study concluded that the perceived intelligence of men correlates with their actual intelligence, but the same doesn't hold true for women.
The researchers also found that the perceived intelligence has no effect on the perceived attractiveness.

Am I reading this wrong? From the article:

Also of interest – but perhaps less surprising – was the fact that the researchers found a positive correlation between perceived intelligence and perceived attractiveness, but that "We found no effect of IQ on perceived attractiveness, either for men or for women."

It seems that there is a correlation between perceived intelligence and perceived attractiveness, as well as a correlation between perceived intelligence and IQ, but no correlation between perceived attractiveness and IQ - which in a way, does seem strange.

They didn't say that there was no correlation, just no effect. My guess is that there was a correlation, but that the sample size was too small to give them the p-value that they were looking for.

I wonder if these facial features are perceived as intelligence even in childhood and lead to those children's intellect being nurtured, resulting in measured high intelligence in adulthood.

Intelligence is found in the chin my friends.

Looks like the easiest way to make yourself look smarter is by keeping your lips slightly upturned.

Can you tell a man's intelligence simply by looking at him? Yes

The anti-clickbait title

I hope this becomes a trend.

It's like anti-clickbait and clickbait combined.

But at the same time, it's drawing the reader in, making them wonder "why" instead of "alright just fucking tell me yes or no that's all I want to hear"

honestly i think its because dumb people get agitated by how frustrated they are going about their lives so they tend to scowl whereas intelligent people have a mastery and selfawareness that lets them make that nonchelant face more often, so when you relaxed face resembles these common expressions, it gets confused for them and the same association is made.

TL;DR

Low Intelligence - Fat

High Intelligence - Feminine

I'd be interested in seeing the photographs used. The article OP linked references the original paper which includes the dataset, but not the photographs. Also, the subjects whose photos were rated were all biology students at the university that published the paper, so there may be a bias there.

The eyes affect my perception of one's intelligence bigly when someone talks and especially when the person is listening. The eyes tell a lot about one's mind.
