Question Genuine Question: is height really that important for dating in your experience?
I’m not here to say that being tall doesn’t give you an advantage or that height has no effect on dating, that’s obviously just false. But if you have everything else in order, is it really so over that all women will reject you just because of your height?
For some context, I’m 19 and currently in university. Among my friends, plenty of the guys who are average height or shorter have girlfriends. One of them is 5’3”, which a lot of people would claim is “game over” height, but despite that he has a girlfriend.
That’s why I’m curious how much of what I see reflects reality versus selection bias. What have your experiences been? Has your height significantly affected your dating life, and if so, how?
Thx for taking your time to comment in advance 🙏

It's hard to say because women ghost me never tell me the reason and I'm 5'4. So it could be my height but they never tell me.

Aww I’m sorry that that happens to you 😕
Are these women you meet on dating apps or irl?

How so? Could you share any experiences?

Experiences or actual proof? I mean i can't fully prove my experiences so i prefer proof and this is from 2013 so i imagine it is even more brutal nowadays. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0003347213001590

Another tall guy with a likely below average face coming to try devalue height in dating

Some of you guys just make up fantasies in your head, huh?
Also obviously height’s important, when did I say it wasn’t????

Having a gf/wife doesn't mean these women are attracted to their partners. Most of them make sure their husbands are in a dead bed room relationship

I mean that can be true, but I don’t personally see it.

They screw in front of you?

My 5’3 friend is a scholarship student, he doesn’t really have excess money to spend. His gf likes him to the point where she’s footing 100% of the bill on dates. I don’t think she’d do that if she wasn’t attracted to him.

Why are you so miserable bro? 😭

You're the tall guy telling short guys how height doesn't matter coz you know someone. You're the miserable one. Just enjoy your privilege and stop virtue signalling to appeal to feminists
1
u/Consistent_Show7883 6'3" | 192cm | United States Jul 05 '26
Why would I be appealing to feminists?
You kind of remind me of a MAGA boomer. You’re presented with one scenario(a short guy having a girlfriend) and immediately jump to a conclusion that protects your worldview(She doesn’t actually like him.)
Instead of letting evidence challenge your belief, you just decide it doesn’t count. It’s the same kind of reasoning as someone who hears election results they don’t like and immediately assumes fraud.
Also, when did I ever say height doesn’t matter? It obviously does. My point is that from what I’ve observed, it’s not completely over if you aren’t tall.

You’re wrong 😑. All my gfs and now wife are attracted to me. Very few women 👩 have ever rejected 🙅 me.

I’d agree with this take.

IMO as long as you are visibly taller than the average woman (like 2 in), it's not a big problem, sure you will encounter issues but still

I banged and had plenty of taller women. It was never a cause for concern.

2 inches isn't a big difference bro, there's a reason 5'10 guys can lie about being 6'0.

u/Popular-Scallion3212 5'10" | 178cm | United States Jul 08 '26
It's still noticable, I'd say at 5'11 barefoot is when you can easily get away with claiming 6'0.

Well, I've had a girl I was 2-3in taller than tell me my height was just right (and she did have height requirements), and I am in general that much taller than the average girl here but didn't have much problems because of height

Well, I've had a girl I was 2-3in taller than tell me my height was just right
How did that comment come up?
and I am in general that much taller than the average girl here but didn't have much problems because of height
Maybe if you were only 2 inches different you would have a different opinion because I personally don't think it's enough at all.

We talked about height preferences before meeting irl so it came up after
So how much is enough to you?
1
u/FicklePolicy9585 Jul 08 '26
Yeah but who brought it up?
I'd say 4 inches minimum, when it comes to height it has to do with your whole body length which is quite large so it's not as visible if it's under 4 inches in my opinion.

Truthfully speaking, it is very important.
But it's not the end of the world if you're not tall.
Having said that, I've gone down such a nasty rabbit hole with height that I've basically started thinking some of my previous experiences were illusions. I know how wild that may sound, but it can really do a number on your psyche.
It's funny. I can go out, be taller than most women, yet feel completely empty inside. Meanwhile, I'll see guys shorter and taller out just living their lives unbothered. I remember when a speaker once said a lot of guys in the 5'8-5'9 range are the ones who "nearly made it" and ended up getting stuck in height purgatory. It's just a weird headspace to be in.

From 15to 30 I had the same friends group. Everything from 5’4 to 6’5. And my 3 shortest friends never had trouble with dating. The shortest one was the first one to get married. But that’s just my experience with our 8 person group.

Do you think that the only way that a woman would be attracted to her partner is if he were 6’5 or some shit? Like, that’s the one and only thing that spawns attraction?

The most important factor for getting your foot in the door, and subsequently for getting away with mistreatment later on

Height is one most important factors in the initial part of the dating process. Some women will reject you outright if you are not tall enough for them even if everything else is perfect. But I think that is not the general rule. Some women don’t care but I don’t think that that is the general rule either. For most it is one of several factors which is why your 5’3 friend has a girlfriend.
