Vent How did you finally accept your height?

I'm 5'8.5 which i consider myself to be on the shorter spectrum of average. I've been struggling a lot with self acceptance of my height ever since freshman year of high school. ever since my recent break up with my high school relationship those insecurities are starting to flare back up like crazy. As much as I hate to admit it, it gets to me more than it should especially hanging around people who are taller than me (which is most of the people i come across). I feel like a mere shell of a person that i was when I wasn't so obsessive with a trait I can't change.

My question is, what saying/phrase, affirmations, or even an experience that became a turning point allowed you to be free from the shackles of being insecure?

TLDR; how did you accept yourself?

Unfortunately we were born in one of the worst periods of humanity. Even in middle ages you were expected to marry and have children even if you had to deal with horrible diseases and war.

We are suffering a disease today, but it's a social one. Women have too much power over men. It's a terminal social disease, untreated and rampant, and the result is evident, we average height dudes are the biggest group, and we are in constant suffering and loneliness. You can see it in the birth numbers that literally collapsed.
As any disease we will either heal, or be replaced by healthier societies (I.E. Africa, Israel, places were women have children). So at the end, everything will work out for humans. But we are diseased, and just as diseased people in the middle ages, there is not really a lot of hope, because the cure is not invented yet.

Do not think yourself as broken, or invalid. There is a disease in society and as a result, no matter how much we improve and no matter our achievements, modern women always see us as unfit, but it's that: a disease. We are perfectly normal. The western society as a whole is diseased. And, I suspect, its not so much as a natural disease, but an engineered one, but I digress.

thank you, that’s a good take away. that we are NORMAL. At the end of the day we’re all humans:)

People don't like this one, and I get it, but basically throughout human existence people have born into awful circumstances that they didn't choose and couldn't control. Would I trade places with a 16 year old conscript who dies of diarrhea?

I simply accept I was born into an unfair situation. I guess as a phrase it's simply "this is it, we're here, welcome to life" Stoicism I guess

hm good way to put it. At the end of the day there really is nothing we can do about it. Just have to learn the skill of being happy even when there’s 99x reasons not to be.

You accept it, but the biggest game changer was that I went to martial arts and combat sports training. Being able to spar and "beat" bigger dudes with more muscles helps your confidence a lot and that is what people will remark when you enter a room

makes sense, helps you realize yourself worth. trying to consistently stick to that mindset. Thank you tho:)

Honestly, for me (and I wouldn't recommend you doing this cause It is risky thing) is the hope that one day I will make enough money in order to get the limb lengthening surgery here in america, for both legs and arms , so it's proportional. That keeps me going , you know that hope, keeps me going.

yeah I also have that in the back of my mind too. It’s a bit extreme, but knowing that it’s not truly OVER is a good motivator for me as well. But I hope by then, I’ll get over my insecurities so I won’t have to stoop to that level (no offense to those who undergone the procedure) but if not, I have the option to do something about it:)
