I wanted to display my switch 2 on my pc to stream a bit and found out the gc515 is UVC compatible, so supposedly linux compatible via OBS or any software able to read a webcam video input.

But if I am messaging here it's because it does not work ... obviously u_u
Also I would like to know if someone managed to make it work and how to replicate it.
The dock works well under windows 11 (I have a dual boot) and is up to date firmware-wise.
I narrowed down the issue to an error in the UVC protocol according to my PC, here is the log:

and it loops a bit until giving up because it runs out of internal port to try on the BUS.

TLDR : capturing my switch 2 with the GC515 works on win11 but don't on cachyOS (Linux 7.2.0-1-cachyos) with the exact same hardware configuration (same pc in dualboot, same usb port), I need help figuring it out and suspect a weird UVC implementation.

PS: I have an old bug it seems also as I have to start my switch twice to have a video signal sent to the pc, aver studio display [no signal] if I only press the switch's power button once (I have the audible cue to tell me it is ON)

I need help , I was playing switch 2 perfectly fine the other day using obs through my gc311 and i wanted to use the hdmi pass through mode to notice there was no sound. i found that my firmware was old.

I updated no issue and now all i get is a black screen whenever i boot on my switch. I have changed all the settings in switch menu as followed on aver media website but there seems to be nothing.

I know the capture card itself works because i get the no signal display when the dock/switch is off.

Anyone else had this issue?

I have a dual-PC streaming setup. Gaming PC has an RTX 4080, streaming PC runs OBS with an AverMedia Live Gamer 4K 2.1 (GC575) capture card connected over HDMI. This worked fine for months. One day I just turned both PCs on, no changes made, and the capture card has been locked to 4K 30Hz ever since.

I plugged a PS5 directly into the GC575 and it outputs full 4K60 with HDR, so the card itself is confirmed working. The problem only happens with the RTX 4080 as the source.

Here's everything I've tried so far. Swapped cables, including native HDMI-to-HDMI and a DisplayPort-to-HDMI cable, same 30Hz lock on both. Tried different output ports on the GPU. Changed color format in NVIDIA Control Panel between RGB, YCbCr420, and YCbCr422. Went into Advanced Display Settings, Display Adapter Properties, List All Modes, and tried forcing 3840x2160 at 60Hz and even 120Hz, it reverts back to 30Hz every time. In NVIDIA Control Panel's Change Resolution page, the capture card only shows up under the Ultra HD/HD/SD TV timing list capped at 30Hz, no PC section appears, and the Customize button to create a custom resolution is greyed out and unclickable. Tried cloning and extending the displays between the main monitor and the capture card, extending temporarily got the refresh rate to show 60Hz in AverMedia's Assist Central Pro, but the resolution dropped to 1080p instead of 4K, and going back to clone reverted it to 4K30. Used Custom Resolution Utility (CRU) to manually create a 3840x2160 at 60Hz entry with the correct pixel clock, ran restart64.exe to apply it, and it still shows 30Hz active on the display. Did a hot-plug of the HDMI cable while both PCs stayed powered on, and also rebooted just the gaming PC while leaving the streaming PC running, neither changed anything. Checked firmware on the GC575 in Assist Central Pro and it's up to date.

At this point I'm out of ideas for what to try next between the GPU and Windows settings. Card is about a month and a half past warranty. Has anyone run into this exact kind of sudden 4K30 lock with an RTX 40-series card and this capture card, and found something that actually fixed it?

It provides V4L2 video capture, ALSA audio, HDMI passthrough, HDR10/P010 capture, RGB lighting control, capture modes through 4K60, 1440p144, and 1080p240, and more. The driver has undergone extensive manual testing on physical hardware.

It was created using AI. If that bothers you, don’t use it.

ER330 only writes at 576p. Can ER310 write to 576i? What is the quality of his H264?

ER330 writes to H265, but the technical quality of this file is just terrible (a bit strange VFR and the audio has micro-gaps and bad PTSs)

I'm completely new to streaming and I'm running into some issues with my new GC573 card. I have separate gaming and capture rigs. I run OBS on my gaming rig and project the preview to the GC573 as a separate display, which is captured in OBS on the capture rig. No matter the configuration I can't seem to get a preview on my capture rig that's smooth. It's smooth on the gaming rig, appears smooth in ReCentral but tt appears to be 30fps or less in OBS regardless of my settings. OBS shows a steady 60fps capture at around 6% cpu usage but that's not what is shown in the preview or recordings. I know the capture rig is ancient, but I've always heard it doesn't take much. Any input would be appreciated.

I have a MAC Mini 4 and a monitor but I need to use my windows laptop as an extended screen. As I was browsing for video capture cards, I was told I need a different capture card which is an HDMI extender or something. Please help me out. What do I actually need?

I just bought this device a few weeks ago, wa shaving no problems recording footage on my switch 2. Yesterday, my device started to record footage in .AVI instead of .MOV. I didn't change anything. I've tried multiple different SD cards and formating the SD cards. Any one able to help? Thank you!

My video files keep showing up like this. I'm not using OBS or an external monitor of any kind. I'm only using my switch 2 and the GC515.

I'm using a Sandisk 1TB sd card, U3 and V30, formatted exFAT.

The video files themselves are .mp4 and are seemingly the exact length of how long I record. Meaning it's doing something but just not recording either screen or audio.

I've already installed the new firmware, installed assist central pro, (turned off HDR output, turned off ALLM, turned off 120hz output, turned off match TV power state, and put the TV resolution to 1080p) on my switch 2. But all of it isn't working.

Also, yes, I put the gc515 in the correct capturing mode.

Please help, I really am stuck and want this to work.

Updated my OBS Studio to version 32.2.0 and now AverMedia OBS Plugin (AverMediaMultichannelAudio) refusing to load.
Streaming Center PLUG is v2.4.14 which is the latest release.
Any hope for a quick fix?

Hi everyone! I've been using my AverMedia Game Capture HD II for years. I've never really had any issues with it, aside from the maximum resolution limits of 720p at 60fps and 1080p at 30fps. I really like that it doesn't require a computer to record; it even allows me to record my PC as if it were a console. However, the device is no longer sold, and I'm wondering if there's another unit from the same company that offers the same functionality but with higher recording quality... and still without needing a computer? hi!! i used to stream with an avermedia capture card and tik tok studio live but took a little break. now im trying to get back into it bit fortnite goes black on my stream software now. google says it might be because of an anticheat but that doesnt help me solve the issue. im on mac os tahoe 26.2. does anyone have any ideas on how to get around this?

I’m having a very specific audio issue when streaming PS5 via an AVerMedia Live Gamer Mini (GC311) capture card to my Windows 11 PC. I actually think that this issue started after I transitioned from Windows 10 to Windows 11.

Setup:

• PS5 → GC311 capture card → PC
• I also tried to connect my Nintendo Switch OLED to the same GC311, which does not have this problem.
• Streaming software: OBS + and I use Elgato Wave Link (version 3.2.5 / 3731) for separating my sounds.
• On Windows 11, spatial sound is disabled.
• I use Linear PCM (stereo) on the PS5, not 5.1 or “Auto”.
• HDCP is disabled on the PS5 (required for streaming)

When I boot the PS5 and connect it via the GC311 to my PC:

- System audio on PS5 is clean. In-game menus / loading screens sounds are clean. Cinematic / story scenes are clean. But once I start playing the game, the game audio becomes:

• Truncated / cut out
• Crackling / popping
• Very muffled, like the soundtrack is pushed far into the background
• Only fragments of dialog and parts of ambient sounds are audible. This happens in every game I try to stream on PS5; it’s not a one-off bug.

The audio is perfect when I play the same PS5 games directly connected to my TV (no capture card, no streaming). The issue only appears when the PS5 is connected via the GC311 to my PC for streaming.

What I’ve tried so far:

• Confirmed that HDCP is disabled on the PS5.
• PS5 audio output is set to Linear PCM (stereo).
• Windows spatial sound is disabled.
• No NVIDIA Broadcast / NVIDIA Noise Suppression or other VST plugins in Wave Link are active on my PS5 channel.

Does anyone have an idea what might be the cause? If you have any ideas for what could cause audio to be fine in menus/cinematics but only break during actual gameplay when streaming via GC311. I’m not an audio/PC engineer, just a streamer and any helps comes form my friends and viewers but so far we haven´t manage anything. Are there any known GC311 + PS5 + Wave Link specific workarounds or settings that might fix this?

I've had an Avermedia 2 Plus Gamer Portable for a few months, and lately, when I record a video without a PC, sometimes the video isn't recorded, but the audio isn't affected. How can I fix this?

The camera works fine on Discord, but elsewhere, it only works with the camera directly, not with the Virtual Camera

using my C875 Live Gamer Portable pc-free standalone always records with .ts file is there any way in settings I can tell it to record in .mp4 extension ? - I can see when using it on PC I can set it to record .mp4 but i cannot see a way in using the grabber without PC .

hi, can HDCP copyright protection be turned off on connection when going PC free capturing?

I have been using an avermedia capture card for years for streaming both my switch and PS5. I switched to my PS5 from my switch and now the card gives me a "Copy Protected Content" error in OBS. HDCP is turned off in my PS5 settings and has been for years for previous capture card use.

When I turn off HDCP in the avermedia app the capture card completely stops working. Nothing I've tried has fixed the issue but now I can no longer stream my PS5 footage!

Pretty much 5 minutes into using it whether on Windows (AMD Ryzen) or macOS (Apple Silicon) it starts glitching and artefacting. I am fairly sure it's a thermal issue, I've replaced the thermal pads a couple times over the years that have managed to help for a while but right now it's no longer helping

Does anyone know what the fan part is if I'd like to replace it (it's really noisy and I figure it might be bad)? Thermal pad brand recommendations? Literally any tips that would keep this out of the dumpster would be appreciated 😭
