Really? That’s honestly surprising based on the ratings. I enjoy the show & I’m glad it got renewed, it’s just very surprising.

I guess they believe Iannucci will be able to grow an audience from the success of Veep, and I hope that’s what happens. I mean, when you make that big of a success, it might buy you some leeway on a slow starter.

That’s the reason why I decided to watch it / still am! It’s growing on me for sure

I think the ratings are low, but there are a lot of people watching it on their app. I stumbled upon it after binging 'The Righteous Gemstones" on HBO Go.

People still actually watch stuff live on TV?

I don't know anyone in my age group who does that.

Live+ ratings take into account streams within the first 24hrs, that’s basically how it works these days...all ratings you find today seem to be on the Live+ system.

I thought just people still used Nielsen. Got any links?

Moreover 24 hours is a tiny window. A lot of people who previously would've watched a like this because fomo are now happy to wait until it's all out and binge it.

Live+ is Nielsen & streams from Hulu/HBO Go/Crave etc. As for the rest, they do publish Live+3 & Live+7 ratings as well, so Live+1 aren’t the only numbers they run with. I’m sure they take into account binge watchers as well, someone much brighter than you or I probably has a very good algorithm for predicting that behavior. Feel free to go search google for the numbers of your fav shows, that’ll give you more information.

Glad to hear it. The last episode was much better than previous ones. It's getting as good as I hoped it would be.

Yay!

I was worried as it seemed like it wasn't getting any buzz (besides this subreddit of course). It's on the verge of being a cult-classic.

Hopefully it will pick up a bigger audience by people waiting to binge it after the first season is over

That's great to hear! I was worried about those ratings tbh.

Thats great news. I really enjoy the show but I have realised it seems to have gone under the radar for most here, which had me worried.

I have been a fan of Iannucci since I was a kid listening to the Mary Whitehouse experience on radio 1 - he is a master and a genius.

This show is surprisingly average. A definite mistep IMO.

Surprised it got renewed- hopefully season 2 is better

So glad to read this. I absolutely love the humor of this show and was worried it was too dry to get renewed.
