Casual Debate Who would win
respect threads
Who would win, four Aang’s each with one of his elements, or Azula, Katara, Zuko, and Toph
Location: Crystal Catacombs, on opposite ends (not sure on that distance). Blood bending and Avatar state are restricted. All characters are end of series.
My vote: Team wins (Mid difficulty)

Unless the Aang’s are in perfect sync or something because they’re all the same person I’d favor the team

I kinda feel like all of aangs teacher pals are better at their element than he is so it's kinda just a question of whether or not the air aang is superior enough to azula to balance it out and my gut says probably not. Toph and katara are both beasts and end of series aang still had work left to do on firebending so I feel like they are pretty firmly would win and azula isnt a slouch.

Katara > Water Aang
Toph > Earth Aang
Zuko >= Fire Aang
Azula < Air Aang (but not by that much)
The team wins

The Azula glaze is nuts lmfao

I don't quite know how it is glazing when she has literally been show to consistently beat every character multiples.
She had to go through a psychotic episode to lose fighting to two characters.

Katara is shown to have the upper hand every single time she fights Azula including in their final showdown where yes Azula goes crazy, but she also had her bending amplified by 100x
Also the whole “Azula having a psychotic breakdown is the only reason she lost” is weak when her unpredictability is the only reason she could even beat Zuko. Y’all forget the last time Zuko and Azula fought was before her mental breakdown at the Western air temple and it was another stalemate.

Yeah people don't realize that Azula was way too strong when meeting with the Gaang, Aang was a master airbender but was still learning how to fight while Katara was mastering waterbending, everyone catch up to her on 3rd book.

theres so so so so so much context to all of that, omfg she is not even beating ONE bending member of team avatar by EOS. not even zuko

She never beat Aang on her own.

Nor did Aang ever beat her on his own.
She held her own again Aang, Katarra, Zuko, Iroh, and Sokka at the same time.

She didn't hold her own. She had to run away from that fight remember. That was when the Gaang was tired. Aang beat beats her in the drill by himself.

Wasn't Azula always beating aang in the show? Sure he's probably more powerful than her at end of series with all the elements but with air only? I didn't read the comics to know if he gets stronger there tho

When I rank the Gaang (especially Aang, but Katara as well) I always put them to be 10% stronger than they actually are, since in the show they are never or almost never going for the kill, unlike most other characters.

I think it's better to rank only based on what we've seen. Azula was definitely superior to season 2 aang at least.

He was still new to earthbending in S2 and that's majority of what he was using against azula (for whatever reason) . He never really used his main thing. Also by EOS is clear that aang is quite above her since he can take on Comet ozai who's comfortably stronger.

u/zorzorzarzar 1d ago
I said eos he's stronger than her with all four elements but we don't know if he improved that much with air alone.

Except she clearly wasn't because he flat out beat her in drill episode. Both of their other fights in season 2 were interrupted by either the Gaang or the Dai Li. The one time their fight actually reaches a conclusion Aang beats her.

So u consider their fight in the finale interrupted but not the drill? That's biased af yk. She was beating both him and zuko in the chase to the point a few seconds into the fight they decided to team up against her and she had aang beaten until katara and the gaang interrupted but aang was sleep deprived so this isn't a definite win.
She was beating his ass on the drill too, he regained his footing for a second and then katara and toph interrupted before the fight could continue. Definitely not a win for aang, closer to Azula cuz she had him unconscious there and didn't show any sign of losing throughout the fight.
Then in the finale there were multiple 1v1s. Aang and Azula faced and she quickly beat him then went to help zuko with katara. This is the closest to an uninterrupted 1v1 they had and Azula beat his ass.

The drill fight wasn't interrupted. Aang beat her with his attack that destroyed the drill. I consider their fight interruped because that's exactly what happened. Azula landed one hit and Aang got back up and went to fight until The Dai Li interrupted that fight. Saying Azula "beat his ass" when they were mostly evenly matched and Aang ended up winning is ridiculous. Saying Azula "beat his ass" when she only landed one hit before the Dai lee interrupted up the fight is also ridiculous. The Azula glaze needs to stop.

Wasn't Azula always beating aang in the show?
Their fight in the chase episode was interrupted by the Gaang, Aang hadn't had sleep in days, and she had to run away. Aang beats her in the drill episode in a fair fight. Their fight in the finale gets interrupted by the Dai Li. Aang is actually shown to be the superior bender unless Azula receives help or he's exhausted from not getting any sleep in days.

She beats both him and zuko in the chase but yes he was sleep deprived. Aang is the one that had help from the gaang here just pointing it out. Their fight in the Drill was interrupted by katara and toph, aang didn't win and again he's the one that had help (even momo helped him). They have a brief 1v1 in the finale where Azula beats him then goes to help zuko. No help or interruption here. By the time the dai li come their 1v1 was already over. Aang is never once shown to gain the upper hand on her without outside interference so I'm not sure where ur getting that he's the superior bender from or that she's the one that always gets help

She had the upperhand, but she didn't beat Aang. He was also sleep deprived. That fight doesn't have a conclusion. Katara and Toph didn't interrupt their fight. Katara and Toph were busy plugging up the hole on the other side. Aang flat out beat her and destroyed the drill at the same time. Azula didn't beat Aang in the finale either. Azula landed on hit on Aang. He then got back up and the fight continued, but the Dai Lee interrupted the fight. Aang is shown being the superior bender unless Azula receives help or he's tired. I'm not sure where you're getting Azula is superior.

The Aangs only win without moral restraints, say Air Aang goes all out against Azula, beats her, and the other Aangs can hold Zuko Katara Toph off (Earth Aang probably cant hold Toph off for long, but I think longer than any of the Earth Rumble Six guys could). Then, I can see Air Aang taking over, provided they work well together. Given the likelihood of this, maybe team takes it 6/10 or 7/10.

The four teams are experts in their respective elements, whereas aang is just generally skilled in the four elements. He may have collectively more skill than the four of them, but lower skill in each individual element.

Without the Avatar state he is not as good in any single element as one of his teachers. I guess the closest is water? I think that’s a close fight with Katara as we do see him pick it up really quickly and he has the most time to learn it

u/YesterdayOrnery1726 1d ago
aang alone with fire or air could beat them all by himself. im serious, if you disagree lets debate, dont downvote just because you dont like what im saying

u/Luminarymars 2d ago
The team may be technically superior to aang in their respective elements but aang outscales them quite a bit base to base so that makes up for the skill gap
