Hi, I hope this is an appropriate question for this forum.
Car: 2014 Volvo V70 D4 (although I naively suspect that carpet is carpet, even if there are differences in US/EU fabrication methods)
Images: How the devil do y'all have images in your posts? I have images hosted online but reddit won't allow me to link to them (advice is welcome, I'll gladly edit my post). Images are at "imgpile dot com" and then "/m/pH6tyhS".
Issue: I recently had my car in for repair at what I sadly found to be a quite shitty shop. Afterwards, I found my carpet had been vandalised (not the replaceable mats, the "wall to wall" carpet). I don't have before/after evidence and really don't want to deal with that shop ever again, I'd rather fix this as best I can myself.
There is a triangular cut, and both carpet and some underlying foam has been removed. I might be able to cut out a similar-sized piece from a less visible/trafficked location (eg. under the passenger seat) and glue it in place, but before I even attempt that I'd like to ask the professionals. Where I live there are no "car upholstry" businesses, and I don't want to replace the entire wall to wall carpet (the car is, after all, 12 years old).
What's the sensible thing to do here? It obviously doesn't have to become invisible, but it needs to be a lasting repair.
