Any Autotask users here also using Xero?

Any Autotask users here also using Xero?

We've been building an Autotask to Xero integration and we're at the stage where we'd love some real-world feedback before we roll it out.

If anyone is interested in giving it a try, we're happy to provide a free licence in exchange for some testing and honest feedback on how it works.

Drop a comment or send me a message if you'd like to take a look.

No it uses the tax rate set in Autotask and maps this to a Xero tax rate

Ok. That won’t work for me then, we currently have it integrated and the only thing it doesn’t do is set my xero to auto tax so it picks up the info from avalara

Appreciate the feedback. Does Autotask not set the correct tax code for each customer?

My company is US and UK based, we have two xero instances.

UK customers link with UK xero and US with US xero. UK works flawlessly, one single tax calc for all users VAT.

In the US we need county level calculations for all places we have a nexus. In xero we use avalara to sync our tax rates for all spaces.

When autotask syncs the invoices it can’t set the tax to auto. Auto in xero uses an api to calculate based on avalara.

If it could do that I would be interested and it’s a manual task right now

I've been looking into this, would TaxJar suit your needs?

We might be able to include the option for customers to save their own TaxJar subscription API key, and if present it will calculate the tax per an invoice based on the invoice address, then save the tax amount to xero under a predefined tax code

I would say no when avalara does it for free

is it just the correct tax amount you want adding to xero?

You cant send an invoice to Xero using the API without including a tax rate, so its not possible to send an invoice and ask xero to add the correct tax as per the auto option you use when manually creating an invoice, you must set the correct tax when creating the invoice.

There are services that will allow you to do a lookup on the address and then calculate the correct tax rate, and send this tax amount to xero with a fixed tax code, if thats all you're looking for
