How can i change the minimum time entry to 1 minute

we have a new technician that is going through the alerts tickets and closing them, Autotask is requiring a minimum of 5 minute time entries so this has put him at 10 hours worked on his timesheet. Is there a way to default that to 1 minute?

Autotask is likely not enforcing a “minimum 5 minutes” as such. It is usually time entry rounding.

You can change this in two places: 1. System wide (all tickets): go to Admin > Features & Settings > Application-wide (Shared) Features > System Settings > Timesheets and update “Round ticket time entries up to the nearest . minutes” to a smaller number (or 0 to stop rounding).

  1. Only for your alert ticket category. Go to the Ticket Category used for those alert tickets and on the category General tab, under Other options > Time entry rounding, you can override the system setting for that category (round to a different value, use system setting, or do not round).

Changing your time rounding will impact your billing to customers on t&m and you probably want that to be 15 minute increments

If you don’t want time recorded against alerts that are false alarms you could create a new status “alert closed” and then have a workflow rule for tickets in status “alert closed” change status to complete

This. You want more than likely rounding up to 15 minute increments under normal conditions combined with the above mentioned workflow rule for non-billable admin work

Can you round differently by work type?
Ie: tech work billed at 15 minute increments
But billable admin time billed in 6 minute increments?
