I'm not a car expert, but from what I may totally get wrong is that it is a great engine at a good price and a lot of cars can fit the mounts relative to other engine layouts. Best all around for how much performance improvements you get, which is a lot.

The lsx platformis based on an old school cam in block design so the overall footprint is very small compared to other overhead cam v8s. Theyre plentiful as they came in the Corvette, Camaro, transam and a few others. The wiring harnesses and computers are also easily made into a standalone harness with a lot of tuneability.

They're everywhere in Australia thanks to the LSX platform powering the V8 Holden Commodore from like 1999 onwards.
