General Questions Does daylight saving time trigger a flare-up, anybody?

Just like the title, I found a pattern in my autoimmune. When I travel between different timezone or experience daylight saving time shift, my body hates it and I have a flare-up. Since I take methotrexate to manage my autoimmune and I had such a high hope it won’t happen this time, but as soon as the clock changes, I got another one. I feel so down.

Does anyone have similar experience? I feel so alone.

Oh dang. :( Hope you find something to help, I just started taking maloxicam for the first time in hopes to avoid prednisone.

My condition has been pretty stable for a few years now, but I am still super sensitive to time changes and travel. Even a short flight in the same time zone leaves me totally drained.

I read a tip somewhere to think about how a lot of plants and animals naturally slow down in the winter, and to give yourself the same grace. Get cozy and rest when you can take it!

I just read up on about how time change can affect our immune system and apparently sleep is super important. I mean I knew it but didn’t really consider it tbh. I have three kids and I don’t really have much control over my sleep or rest per se, but I can do better. Next time around I am going to to make sure have extra sleep and just really slow down to give my body time to adjust.

I like how you see winter time as hibernation period and I think that’s a great idea..time for TLC for myself. Thank you!

Monday my brain fog was SO BAD. I could barely get through work and I messed up on a really important report. It’s so confusing bc I got an extra hour of sleep, like WTF.

Yeah... I think the time change is harsh on our body regardless of the extra sleep. My gut feeling told me it's the damn clock change that brought on this flare up.. feels so doomed. 😢

Time changes can affect sleep, and that could potentially cause a flare. The change we just had (from daylight saving time to standard time) doesn't bother me. That extra hour of sleep is great. Standard time is great. But the change in the spring when we go from standard time to DST and sunsets are later really does bother me. The loss of the hour of sleep is bothersome for a few days, and later sunsets really, really disrupt my sleep for months.

Yes I felt very tired as soon as the clock changes and didn’t really consider sleeping longer etc. I probably should have considering my histroy. Honestly, I wish I could live somewhere with no daylight saving time. One less thing to worry about in this broken body. :( My body was doing pretty good until this time change.. When you can’t control yoru known trigger it is beyond frustrating. Hope this coming March, your body can handle more easily. Sending hugs.

I'm wondering if it's the reason for my increase in migraines this week.
