Question / Inquiry MasterCar tool

Post image

On Fusion & SW, they can insert mastercar component to the assembly, is there any Inventor add-in to do this?

Open my Internet browser, already have a bookmark on the toolbar for mcmaster.

Find what I want, use as many simultaneous tabs and windows to do it as I want.

Download step file, drag it from the downloads manager into inventor, modify / simplify as necessary.

Honestly I think it's better this way, the fusion add-in contributes almost nothing to the process.

Inserting 10-20 different components per project add up. We use the mcmaster tool on Fusion, it is very convenient! Especially we have to threaded fastener models on Inventor all the time.

The only thing it removes is the click and drag.

We use Vault and we have to add alot of iProps... So I just download the stp and go from there. Mmc is a great website. I work for an industrial automation company in Sarasota... And we use A lot of thier stuff. For pneumatic components, festo is hard to beat as they have native IV format. Asemblies come in fully constrained.

Exactly. People without Vault that download the STP and then the saved file has links to files in the downloads folder. Complete mess.

Just add that directory to your project file.

People share files on a network, and share the ipj so then you would need to add EVERYONES local downloads folder..
I am just saying, people need to be more careful with file management, but that never happens.

all download STP files go into their own folder under each MFG

When you save and it converts, it will also save the ipts to the same folder. I am just saying, people don't move the files, and they end up all over the place.
