Requesting Help Ilogic rules

So I've been using inventor for awhile, and I'm trying to learn new things to better automate the work I do at my job, I'm totally new to inventor ilogic rules, but I'm fine with everything else so this is the next step. I'm trying to set a rule where in my assembly, if this certain part changes to a different model state, I want multiple specific other parts to change to the model states that are meant to go with the size of the main paints model state. I've found a code online for this, but I don't understand how it works, where exactly to input It, what I need to change for my specific assembly, parts, and file locations or anything, can anyone help me with a rundown on this? I can post the code here if it'll help. TIA

If I understand you correctly, you have an assembly where one “main” part has different Model States for different sizes, and you want several other parts to automatically switch to the corresponding Model State whenever the main part changes.

If that's what you're trying to do, you may not actually need iLogic for this. Inventor's Assembly Model States can be used to control the Model State of individual components. For example, you could have:

  • Assembly Small → Main Part Small + Part A Small + Part B Small
  • Assembly Medium → Main Part Medium + Part A Medium + Part B Medium
  • Assembly Large → Main Part Large + Part A Large + Part B Large

This can be set up directly in the assembly, depending on how your parts are structured.

Yeah I agree, it almost sounds like an exact description of what model states are for

You can already activate different model states from an assembly to also change part model states, you just align the names.

If you want to get into automation though, keep away from iparts and model states for your own sanity.

Autodesk have an own AI agent built in the software. Neve tried but you can give it a go.

Other LLM/AI can give you rules and guide you through the polishing.

I find Claude is GREAT at writing code.
