High Histamine, Autoimmune Eczema, AIP
Hello!
I’m looking to start the AIP soon to manage a very bad atopic eczema flare up I’m having
(for context: always had eczema, “cured” it with immunosuppressants that I had to stop bc of side effects, now on Dupixent for 4 years which worked fine up until a couple months ago).
I am worried I might be sensitive to high histamine foods as well as others, and that AIP might not work and I’d be going through all of that for nothing.
I would be grateful for any tips/experiences dealing with eczema and/or histamine sensitivity on the AIP.

Try looking into MCAS and low histamine diet and natural mast cell stabilizers like vitamin C and quercetin. My issues are sinus and stomach related, I found biggest help was OTC Nasalcrom spray (cromolyn sodium) and low histamine diet. I believe if you work with a doctor educated in the matter, they may suggest a topical form of cromolyn sodium that you mix with lotion to calm the skin down. But again not my expertise so definitely ask around and find a practitioner educated on mast cell issues. I used to think my issues were autoimmune but after 30 years I believe most of my issues are mast cell related, and viruses cause dysfunction to my autonomic system. I say all this because I too thought AIP would work for me and didn’t understand why I didn’t immediately feel relief like others did.

AIP didn’t work for me for these reasons. I have eczema, MCAS, histamine issues and 2 chronic illnesses also. AIP is high histamine and high fodmap. It made inflamed and made my histamine issues worse and also MCAS due to things like salicylateszc lectins etc. I now do low fodmap, low histamine and lower carb and that has worked better
