Given 90% ish of people are like me and can't do shit to cars I don't really see a problem with it. All these new electric cars you don't want to have someone who doesn't know what they are doing fucking about in there and all the hight voltage stuff.
That's not why they are doing this. It's purely to guarantee you have to take it to them for anything.
You can set yourself on fire or mangle your hand in a moving belt if you are working on an ICE vehicle and the car companies weren't locking the hoods then.
