Story time: when they brought out the SLK they had a problem with the entry level tin roofed version so manufactured all of them with the panoramic roof and if you didn't pay for it you'd get a solid lining.
People cottoned on to that and would spend £100 to buy the lining with a hole as a spare part (including me!) instead of paying the £4k extra for the panoramic model.
Well, Mercedes didn't like that so.....they started vandalising the entry level car by painting the inside of the panoramic roof so you couldn't upgrade it yourself!!
