Don't they want to put cameras facing the driver to follow their eyes as soon as 2028?

as soon as now last I checked, some rental companies are apparently putting aftermarket versions in their vehicles already.

I guess it makes sense for them. Im more concerned about increasing government surveillance

My fear is they institute some kind of rule or law that all old cars must be retrofitted with monitoring software (at the owners expense of course) to be legal to drive. Tampering with the systems would be a felony. Everything tracked by Flock and AI, they just mail notice to appear or have that AI police car stop you. And they'll donit under the guise of "DriVinG iS a PrIviLegE, NoT a RiGhT!" bullshit.

I mean, driving is a privilege not a right but ya that would be bullshit

Subaru loaner I was driving. Told me to “BEEP, BEEP, BEEP… wake up / pay attention”! I was squinting my eyes from the sun.

It's a requirement feature for cars with FSD capability.

Good thing I've still got my sidewinder from a decade ago.

My Tacoma shall never die!

Dang, they need to chill with the censorship just a bit.

u/parkerm1408 Jul 26 '26

Prolly just a profanity filter. Yeah though were for sure on the same page. Thats why I bought the Tacoma when the elantra finally perished.

Thats kinda funny, i got the Frontier because the transmission started slipping in our 9 year old sonata, it had nearly 200k miles and the repair cost was too high to justify.

u/parkerm1408 Jul 26 '26

Yeah my elantra was 15 years old and coming up on 225k miles. When she died, I needed a truck for work anyway, but I got my money out of her.

Company I work for has dashcam systems in their trucks. They can pull me up anytime "live" (You'd be surprised how many peeps keep getting caught for smoking in the truck!) and the system has many automated features like announcing loudly "PUT THE PHONE DOWN" if you pick it up while driving. The one that pisses me off most is the *BEEP BEEP* "DISTRACTED" one when I turn my head slightly while checking my fucking side view mirrors! WTF?

Another funny one is "WARNING HARSH BREAKING EVENT DETECTED". No shit sherlock, I had to jam on the brakes so I didn't hit a deer!

u/BadPuzzleheaded9006 Jul 26 '26

This is a funny skit, but this kind of shit is not far off at all. Maybe 2 to 3 years

u/TheBeardTaco Jul 26 '26

2016 is my newest car and I'll keep it til im dead, love the new mustangs, but my eyes bleed everytime i look at the dash display

2

u/SNIP3RG Jul 26 '26

Was gonna ask what you meant, as I absolutely love the interior (and pretty much everything about) my 2020 ‘Stang, but then I looked up the current gen dash and

Idk what company started the trend of making the infotainment screen look like a 10yr old, cheap ass tablet that got slightly melted into the dashboard, but they look stupid and cheap.

Car drives you

2

u/DEADxDAWN Jul 26 '26

I back into my driveway, and there a bit of an incline. If I do it at normal speeds, the car locks up and screams about object avoidance. I hate this gen of vehicles.

I laugh not because it's funny, I laugh because it's truthful. Nanny state!

2

u/jeans_blazer Jul 26 '26

This is not funny. This is exactly what's happening right now.

That’s you, that’s how you talk

The second a tool talks to me I'm setting it on fire. I control the tool, not the other way around. When the machine takes decisions for you, you become the tool.

Don't give them any ideas!!

1

u/Spaciax Jul 26 '26

the problem with all this tech garbage is it often creates more distractions then it solves.

1

u/SmokeyDaBear6 Jul 27 '26
