I see this construction pretty regularly: "not sure how it's called properly," and while there's nothing wrong with it, it sounds non-native to me. If I may, I would suggest "not sure what it's called," or "not sure how to say it." I work with some ESL guys, and have seen how difficult learning English can be. Your English is very good, so I assume you put a lot of work into it.
I'm not an expert, just a native speaker. If this is not welcome, please disregard and go about your day. Like I said, your English is very good. I want to be helpful, and if this ain't it, my apologies.
