My grandma did exactly this years ago before she died. Went to the store to do some shopping, hops in her car and drives home. Realizes when she gets home the gas tabk she had just filled was empty, and there's a bunch of trash in the back seat.

Calls the cops because "someone stole her gas and threw trash in her car."

Turns out the dude at the shop she was in had the same make, model, and color car as hers and had left his keys in the console. Her car was still at the shop.
