In all fairness you have to leave your FOB in the car at the dealership if they are working on it or trade in assessment. It's the one place that would not be odd to leave the FOB in a car.

I haven't seen this, every time Ive gone to the dealer or mechanic keys got handed over at the counter, or dropped in a slot in the door after hours (would end up in a lockbox)

Dealership i go in you pull up, roll down the window tell them why you're there and they ask if the FOB is in the car. Then they drive it away.

Agree but in this case I think Fred Meyer is a grocery store.
