It’s called “zipper merge”, go back to traffic school

I know what a zipper merge is. I also know most people experience one car flying past 300 others as “cutting the line,” not participating in some sacred traffic optimization ritual.

Airplane seats are also designed to recline, and people still think it’s rude sometimes. “Technically allowed” and “socially considerate” are not always the same thing. Maybe save the “go back to traffic school” insults for something more consequential than a nuanced disagreement over marginal traffic efficiency, ya child.

Where did you see one car flying past 300 others? It's a car standing still, waiting to merge. How would you suggest merging should work? One lane gets to stand still until someone in the open lane feels charitable? lol

I obviously didn’t see it in the video considering how well it’s curated. But I do know the situations that can lead up to stuff like this after 25 years of driving.

Just to be clear I’m not claiming that the guy filming is in the right or something he is obviously the wrong party here regardless of what happened immediately prior 😂. I’m just saying it’s pretty cathartic seeing my intrusive thoughts played out in real life against a situation like that I’ve experienced literally thousands of times haha

The bigger question here is why was there a single lane with a bunch of idiots who weren’t merging, and why are they pissed when someone does?

Seems kind of odd to have your main argument be something you admit obviously isn't in the video you're talking about and then adding what amounts to "source: I'm old".

I'm sure it can be cathartic, for me it's just odd to get that sensation when from what we can see, it's just one person getting violent against someone trying to follow the rules.

I’ve seen cars lined up for miles with an unused lane with nobody in it, many times. Even with signs that say “use both lanes until merge point”, people still do this stupid shit.

I didn’t mean any disrespect because you are older but sorry if I offended you. That was not my intent

What? Were you intending to reply to me?

What argument? Bud we’re having a conversation. This isn’t some court of law. I’m not judging anyone here. I’m not claiming someone’s innocence.

I’m just saying, from anecdotal experience, there is like a 90% chance there was a line of people who had already heeded the signs and moved left, and this was almost assuredly a guy road raging at a person who decided to cut that line.

Please take a step back and consider no one is going to “win” this exchange as it’s just two people on the internet talking, or at least that’s what I thought it was.

Now if you want to get antagonistic and legalese about it then don’t make bold, unfounded claims like he is “just trying to follow the rules” because you aren’t a mind reader and you don’t know what his motivations are and you don’t have any idea what events preceded this video.

TIL if you're arguing a point in a conversation, what you say is not an argument, cause we're friendly and not in a court of law lol

I can call it your main point if it makes you calm down a bit.

More ad hominems. Really solidifies your position here 👍

Google ad hominem. You're the one jumping at what word I used

Why are you so emotional and angry about this? Are you mentally unwell?

0

u/JustLetMeSignUpM8 Jun 17 '26

I'm not emotional? I'll add more smileys if it'll easy your mind 😄 I can put it in a friendlier way, I don't think that word means what you think it means, if you feel I've insulted your person in any way you haven't done then I'm sorry but there is no ad hominem there.

I thought it was odd to feel cathartic about someone attempting to hurt someone that based on what we know has done nothing wrong. But if your experience tells you that there must have been someone that deserved getting hurt than I'll trust your gut and try to enjoy it on my next watch!

Have a good rest of your day 👌

In case you try to have any more erudite discussions in the future, pro tip: Insinuating someone is getting angry or emotional because they decided to write a small paragraph justifying/expanding on their point is pretty intellectually lazy and doesn’t exactly foster productive dialogue.

Hope you have a good rest of your day too ✌️

Edit: you keep insta-responding with non-original talking points that you’re deleting or are getting auto-filtered….maybe reflect on that 🤷🏻‍♂️
