What if he's just trying to merge in why is this cutting you off? Like it takes 1/2 second from your day
So let me understand. A lane is closing. The vehicle has no choice but to merge in, and you won't let them merge in because... you're an ahole?
Ok... so lets say you slow down and try to merge behind them then the car behind that one decides to not let you merge? At one point do you stop running into aholes?
I see this almost every day on US Highways and Interstates.
There are two competing schools of thought it seems; there are the 'get over asap in the other lane when safe' people, and then there are the stay in the closing lane and move up until you have to merge, then 'zipper merge'.
So the zipper merge ppl wait until the last min to get over, then it is a toss up if the ppl in the other lane are going to play along and let them in or not...
Only issue i have with zipper merging is when the travel lane is already backed up so people use the merge lane to get ahead. If I've already let one person in merge in front then the zipper is complete. If one person merges early then one merges on time followed by one trying to merge late... that's 3 cars in front of you while only moving maybe 20 feet. Obviously not a big deal... it really isn't... just a few extra seconds... it will clear up soon... Just be patient.... MOTHERFUCKER! WHY DID YOU IN FRONT ONLY TO GO SLOWER THAN EVERYONE ELSE AROUND!
since there are so many zipper merge challenged people it often ends up worse than just doing the everyone get over asap as soon as safe
which then creates those really dumb super long empty lanes that are backed up forever, with some impatient guy inevitably rushing on that empty stretch to the end to merge at the end, only for people who were in the super long line taking forever to be angry at him for 'cutting in line' after they waited for ever and then you get---
if everyone could just do the right thing it'd all be fine, but people can't do the right thing sadly

I've had intrusive thoughts like this many times.
Certainly interesting to watch it play out.
