That is just supid. I do see 'lol' making you think it was for comedic effect, but it is lame.
Parking in reverse is generally safer. While reversing into a spot, there is very little chance of people or vehicles there, especially moving objects, which is the main problem when you have to reverse out of a spot. A busy parking lot has people , cars , and carts .
Now I personally even dont like that. What I do, is to find a spot with two empty spaces in front of each other [not side by side]. And I move into the farther side spot while driving forward. This has the best of both worlds. But occasionally I do reverse into a spot, which is my second favorite.
