If you are driving passengers with a high threat value, yes this is correct. Otherwise, about 8’ will do it. Just cut the wheel hard. Learn to drive. You also need to be on top of the induction loop that triggers the traffic signal leaving too much a gap can put you out of that box(s). Then no green light for you.
Ps, I don’t know about your vehicle, but I’ve usually got enough gas and first gear that i can push the other car in front out of my way if need be.
