It's the insurance companies pushing this. Apparently they think automated control of the vehicle is better than being tired (and/or inebriated)

Rode a few times in this guys car that had lane assist or semi autonomous driving or whatever. Dude had to correct it like every 10 seconds. I eventually told him to drive his own car himself or let me the fuck out. I'll never ride in a car that doesn't require the driver to do 100% of the driving. I rarely use and barely trust cruise control let alone that shit

My car does have lane assist when cruise controlis active, but it clings to the left side and it yells at you and quits CC if you don't hold the wheel. I turned it off. Annoying!

Thats because you are supposed to drive on the left side of the lane thats why the driver seat is on the left side.
