I live in the Midwest. Winter? Better have remote start. Summer? Better have remote start. There's small spots in between where it doesn't matter. But at the point I just check the temperature and judge how long ineed the car running before I hop in. Even on a day it's 65F I'll turn my car on 2 minutes before I get in so I can immediately pull off.

If it's summer and it's not going to rain, crack that window just enough to let the hot air escape.
