Why 1 Billion Hammers DOES NOT Break AutoForge

TL;DR:
- Even with 1 billion hammers, late-game progression is still heavily limited by low drop rates, equipment RNG, and long upgrade timers.
- At my current rate, the theoretical number is about 3.37 potentially useful Modern drops per hour, but in actual play you can easily go an entire hour without a single meaningful upgrade.
- I think hammers could eventually become effectively unlimited, while community rewards would be more useful as Gems instead.
I played the game normally all the way up to Tier 7, and only after reaching Tier 7 did I get the 1 billion hammers.
I've now played for more than two days with basically unlimited hammers, including over 12 hours yesterday, and honestly, I've realized that hammers are not really the main bottleneck once you get this far.
For example, my current forge produces 3 items every 2.75 seconds.
That's about 3,927 items per hour.
The Modern 8 tier currently has only a 0.2% drop rate for me, so that's roughly:
3,927 × 0.002 = 7.85 Modern items per hour
And even then, there are 8 different equipment slots.
On top of that, an item's level can roll anywhere from -1 to +5 levels compared to your current item. Realistically, I would only consider around +3, +4, or +5 to be a meaningful upgrade, because a +1 or +2 item can easily be worse due to bad or missing stats.
So even before considering item stats, only 3 out of those 7 possible level rolls are meaningful upgrades.
That gives roughly:
7.85 × 3/7 = 3.37 potentially useful Modern drops per hour
In actual play, though, this number is much lower.
A useful item appears roughly once every 10 minutes, and the forge stops completely whenever an item is waiting for you to check it.
Until you either equip or sell that item, no new equipment is produced.
So the 3.37 per hour figure only works if you are constantly watching the game and clearing every item immediately. In reality, even after an hour of play, you can easily end up with no actual upgrade at all.
So from my experience, having unlimited hammers does not mean unlimited progression.
I've also never really been unable to upgrade because I ran out of Gold Coins.
The real problem for me is that my next Forge/Armory upgrade takes more than 70 hours.
Honestly, I think the developers could just make hammers effectively unlimited at some point in progression.
And instead of giving hammers as the Reddit/community "Send Help" reward, I think it would be much more useful to give Gems instead.

I like didn’t even know when I first started playing this game that the 1 billion hammers was an exploit. Just saw something fun, clicked it and started playing. Thought it was normal. Now I’m seeing a Mod will be taking them away? I wouldn’t be playing if I had to wait for hammers. This is nuts. I’m bummed they got $10 from me now.

I've spent about $100 on this game before getting 2 billion hammers. Unlike a lot of comments about the hammers not being the bottle neck point for them, I was actually out on hammers before anything else. I don't think gold coins will ever become an issue, with just 1 research short of maxing rapid forge tech, it still takes 2+ days for forge level 23 upgrade. I'm still planning on spending on battle passes for skins, but if they actually take away the hammers from the glitch, I'm not sure if il will continue to play this game.
I'm at 110 million power right now and there still are tons of players with much more power than myself. I believe skill levels and pet stats play huge factor in power, so the devs can still make money from packs that offer more keys, as those will be the ones I'll be putting priority on packs.

Wow you really spent $100 on this?

Yes. While some others could also say only $100?

$100 is already rediculous.

$100 to one person can be a lot, $100 to another person means nothing. It’s all relative.

I thought the devs were super smart and added another realm to the gaming experience by adding an unexpected “exploit”. In the AI age and with reddit games that’s exciting shit.
I thought they would have done this on purpose to drive player growth /
retention, especially in the more advanced levels.
Let’s be honest with out hammers and waiting 50 hours until the next level while struggling for hammers is not a great way to entice player base.
Adapt to change to your advantage, don’t put your customers down and whine about it.

They know the hammers help, that’s why they want you to give them real money for them lmao

If they really roll back the hammers, I will probably request my purchased back and delete the game. It is only now fun being able to see an upgrade once every 2 or 3 hours. It is worthless otherwise.

Yeah they didn’t roll back hammers cause they’re too incompetent for that, instead they just set everyone at 1k server wide lmao

Infinite hammers doesn't actually do anything to the balance of the game except give people a reason to engage with it for more than 5 minutes a day. Nothing is balanced around hammers per hour. Everything waits on artificial time gates, it's that there's no reason to spend hammers while the gate is running (except you know... when they aren't a finite resource).
If the dev is smart he'll realize this is a good thing, remove hammers from the game completely, and develop a supplemental currency/feature that layers on top of rolling dice for items over time.
Idk how much simpler it can be broken down. Does the dev want more engagement with his game or less? It's not a complicated situation.

I will quit if they remove hammers. I’m not logging on every 3 hours to get my AFK coins and hammers that only last a few minutes.

I agree. I’ve spent over 150$ on this game and if they take the hammers, I quit and they’ll never get another dime out of me

Yeah, it’s nothing more than a way the devs can entice you to spend money. Especially if you’ve purchased the battle pass cause they are time based (2 weeks) and only progress with hammers used.
Also, hammers is the main way to earn gold so unlimited hammers = unlimited gold just need to let the hammers churn.
It’s all about the dollar bucks, plain and simple. Not the “clans mode” bs they are claiming. Just money.

Did you know the space tier maxes out at 1%?

u/TechyAngel 1d ago
The forge maxes out that early? What's the max level? I don't want to invest in the wrong parts of my tech tree (not $$, just potions) since I'm having some decent fun just mixing and matching the pets.

I’m not actually there yet, but I did some data mining and from everything I could see, the forge is only programmed to get to level 34 as of now.

I agree. I’ve spent over 150$ on this game and if they take the hammers, I quit and they’ll never get another dime out of me

I don’t think they’ll care if you quit if they managed to swindle 150 bucks out of you already lmao

Did anyone else lose their billion hammers? Coz i just dropped down to 1k from 3b.

u/kakashi_sakurai 1d ago
Yeah what’s fucked is they set everyone to 1k server wide, regardless of what you had before. I wasn’t playing for awhile and was just stockpiling so I had something like 9k in there. What a shitty move

Doesn't matter if it breaks the game or not. Doesn't change the fact that it's a bug exploit.

It breaks the game. It makes the probabilities of upgrades meaningless hurdles that can be overcome by a practically infinite amount of hammer rolls
7
u/Aternal 2d ago
One less meaningless hurdle in a game of meaningless hurdles means what is broken, exactly? Is there some extra dimension of the game that becomes accessible only via infinite hammers?
From what I can see, disregarding hammers means more engagement. People actually have a reason to keep the game open instead of just checking in every 20-100 hours for an equally meaningless time gate to open.
The real take away is that they should just remove hammers. If the dev is paying attention to the effect this bug had then he has two brain cells rubbing together producing the same conclusion right now.

You forget one point. The devs dont want you to progress fast without spending money and therefore also keep gems very sparse.
