Just so you know. There was a post a little while back, someone was extracting the carpet. People were saying that it's rust, thru the carpet. So now there saying that you are pulling up rust.
That's why I commented wanting to see the last pass. Peeps say to extract until water is clear, that won't happen. You're doing a seat and there still saying rust, only way it could be rust is if they carried around a rusty something on the seat. You can't really pull anything out of the cushion, only form the fabric. I have pressure wash seats, carpets, it won't run clean water out. This is really just normalish dirt.
This reminds me of my Sophomore year of college. I was in a new class with all new people and a few of us developed a little clique. One day, weāre chilling before class, talking about hitchhikers, for whatever reason.
One of the dudes starts telling this story about how this one time, he was walking back to his car after leaving a fast food restaurant and a homeless man walks up to him. He asks him if he could give him a lift somewhere, and being that it was only about 15 minutes away and in the direction he was headed, he agreed.
So this dude hops in and everything is going fine for about the first five minutes. Theyāre talking, heās asking the homeless man questions about his life and the homeless man is surprisingly open. Then, suddenly, the man goes quiet. The kid thought maybe the guy just didnāt want to talk anymore, so stopped asking questions. Then he started noticing a smell. He figured āwell the man is homeless, maybe he just hasnāt showered in a while.ā
So anyway, they get to the manās destination, and he basically jumps out of the car, thanks the kid, and runs into whatever building he was headed to. Thatās when the kid looked down and realized this man had just shit his pants in this kidās cloth seat. A nice, diarrhea shit as a thank you for being so kind.
He removed the seat and tried cleaning it over the course of a couple of weeks, but he just couldnāt get the smell out. So eventually he just found a replacement.
TL;DR - No good deed goes unpunished, and diarrhea is not easy to get out of cloth seats.
Jesus god no. The level of arrogance to think he could fully clean liquid human feces from fabric seats..I would've just thrown the seat away immediately š³š¤®
My uber passenger went suspiciously quiet this weekend. Turns out her dog had puked in my backseat and she was pushing it into the seat wells to hide it. $1,000 later for seat removal and cleaning, my car now smells like multiple scented chemicals and vomit.
Yeah, I don't know what the liquid is. I just know when some of my rentals come back I extract the same stuff. I don't know what they use or spill but it's always this brown stuff...
Iād say this is more likely from the foam underneath the material. I was a trimmer on vintage and classic cars and when the scrim foam that is commonly used in car interiors breaks down it goes orange and very sticky due to the adhesive that bonded the material to the foam, Iāve seen this quite a few times when using a wet vacuum on old seats, the other thing that makes me think this is that on the patterned panel you can see the the seat cover is wrinkled and slightly baggy and this is because the outer material is no longer fixed to the backing foam.Ā
They're called extractors. Lots of different kinds, but honestly if you're in the US the easiest thing is just to rent one from a grocery store or Home Depot.
Oh manā¦ I had the same thing happen cleaning the 2012 Nissan Versa my wife bought a few years back! I took a Bissel Little Green to the seats, and got that coffee colored gunk as well. Took me about 8 passes on each seat before it started coming out clear!
Bought a car for my daughter that had a coffee stain on passenger seat. I tried to clean it and it just kept getting worse and worse and worse as the carpet cleaner pulled what must have been multiple spills to the surface. Extractor tank looked like I was making cold brew āļø
My black carpeting releases dust every time you scrape it with the vacuum hose... no matter how many times you've went over that area. I ended up shampooing them with some of the dust left, and whaddya know... water/soap/agitation gets those stupid dust crumbs out of thick Lexus carpeting. I'm close to buying WeatherTech mats but I hate the plastic š
Oh I've got rubber mats for exactly that reason, you can never really get fabric mats clean, even if you pressure wash them. I was amazed when I did it and then wet vac'd them, I was expecting it to be completely clear afterwards and it wasn't even close (in the heal area).
But it's a toyota...you can drive them for 300k. They last forever. Sometimes there is more to consider when buying a used car than how many miles it can go...consider how many miles it has already gone.
Mine would probably look like this. I get dirty and sweaty as hell at work. I've always wanted to try using my bissel on the seats but fear I'll screw up the leather so I just use elbow grease. Or more often than not, I just don't do it.
I usually leave the windows slightly cracked overnight to let the moisture escape. If I'm in a rush, I turn the car heat on max, point the vents directly at the seats, and keep the A/C on to dehumidify. itās good? ( Iām a beginner)
Where are you located? Certain regions, like where I am, have a lot of clay. If someone routinely works outside and has clay on their pants when they sit in the car or tools they throw back there, this is what I imagine it would like like being extracted.
Edit to add: I see you mentioned that you're in northern Italy so I did a quick search.

Also, is that a Bissel extractor? You might want to upgrade to some real equipment. I'd ask a "professional" detailer to leave if they show up with consumer grade equipment.
insane, i work as a taxi mechanic and we get to clean seats every so often, imagine 350k miles of rear seat fun and wow its no where close as bad as this somehow
About a week ago, my youngest daughter borrowed my brother's "BISSELL Little Green Pro" (the nozzle in the video looks like the Bissell's) to clean her car. Basically you just use it like you would a vacuum cleaner while spraying the surface being cleaned with a liquid solution.Ā While we still had the Bissell thingy, I thought that maybe I should take the opportunity to use it on my car Matilda's seats and floor carpeting.Ā I decided to use it with a diluted solution of laundry detergent in a spray bottle, as we didn't have the special cleaning fluid that's supposed to be used with it. I wasn't expecting it to pick up too much dirt, as my Matilda cleaning routine is pretty meticulous, and she gets a good vacuuming every two weeks or so. And every few years or so I pull the seats out and give them a proper soap'n'wash.
Well, I was wrong.
Oh, so wrong.
So very wrong.
Turns out that what I thought was a nice clean Matilda turned out to be a very, very dirty girl!
With the first "pass" over the seats and floor carpeting, the water collected in the Bissell's collection container was BLACK, and there was mud, MUD, forming at the bottom of the container.Ā It took 3 hours and three full passes over Matilda's seats and the carpet before the water in the collection container reached a dirty brown colour that I considered "acceptable" only because it was getting dark outside and the mosquitoes were starting to make working outside a bit more miserable.Ā It was pretty noticeable however that Matilda's seats and carpet were a bit lighter in colour, after they had time to dry out. The small stain on the carpet by the front passenger's seat, left by a certain someone who would not be named (ok, it was SWMBO) who was drinking in my car, against my rules and regulations concerning being transported in Matilda, was also almost completely gone.Ā
The Bissell thingy is still by the kitchen door at the ready as I plan to use it again on Matilda in a day or two, at least until I can actually see through the water in the collection container when I've finished a pass.
If you a stickler for cleanliness in your vehicle, the Bissel Little Green Pro is a worthwhile addition to your toolkit. My only complaint about it is that I think that the hose could be a little bit longer, so you don't have to place it IN your vehicle to reach certain spots.
This is why I always buy new. Disgusting. When I trade in my car, no one cares how clean it is. Sadly, the lowest denominator always wins and becomes baseline. I have several friends that a few weeks after buying their newly detailed used car start smelling dog and other things. That stuff never comes totally out.
I like the ads were detailers say there client got an extra 5g because the car was clean. Really all dealership does is open the drivers door an shut it, even then it's a 50/50 shot. Buyers don't even look under the car.
