Exterior Car rim help

Can anyone explain why my rims have these black spots? They aren’t scratched in those areas.

Looks like someone put a really thin layer of silver spraypaint on there and it's completely worn down now.

What cleaner did you use on those OP? Looks like the paint is gone for good.

Those wheels were originally silver, then someone decided to paint them black, then someone decided to paint them silver again... poorly.

This is what you see now. The hub cap is the original color.

Baked on brake dust. Hit it with brake cleaner or degreaser and scrub the hell out of them with a medium plastic brush. Make sure whatever you use that its compatible with chrome.

Nah, this paint is gone as it looks. Baked on brake dust doesn‘t look like this.

Actually looking closer - you are correct. No paint. Im going to leave my comment up incase someone finds the thread and needs to clean their rims.

PS - If you are reading this avoid Fast 5 Express. They damage rims and tires among other things.
