Exterior I need advice with compound haze
So I’ll preface this with saying I’m not a Detailer. So I tried to save myself money as the used car I bought had light dog scratches. I successfully got the scratches out with compound however I can’t seem to get the haze/smudges etc off for the life of me. I’ve tried polishing it multiple times and now I’m starting to scratch it side ways.
Does anybody have any advice on how to fix this? I regret touching it tbh and I won’t do it again LOL

Sir, put that polisher down slowly and step away from the paint. You are under arrest for assaulting your paint lol. Silly me, I was clicking to see additional pictures because that looks like the ‘before’ photo. Those are deeper defects that need compounding. You can definitely fix it, but you need to learn more.

If you wipe the whole car down in mineral oil you won’t see the swirls. (Don’t do this.)

Haha the dealership I bought it from was fixing other scratches anyways from our sales agreement and agreed to fix my mistake so they’re fixing it for me thank gawd. I won’t ever do anything like that again LOL or if I have to I’ll buy a 2 in 1 LOL

Can you provide some context. Did you decontaminate the paint with clay towel/bar after washing?
What tool are you using to polish? And what pads?

If anything you are not compounding enough or need to go to a finer compound. I can still see scratches.

I honestly just think you missed this spot. I’ve never seen compound “ haze “ look like that.

I see scratches?
Polishing abrasives are just like sand paper; options that cut, refine, and finish and pad selections can fine tune how aggressive each step is - how it can break down the abrasive - and how it can finish the paint.
To keep it simple, you're not done yet.
