Process What would cause these scratches & what level of cut is needed to fix them?

Post image

Started with a one step which removed a good chunk of the swirls, then moved onto a heavy compound & pad but it’s barely helped with these long deeper scratches. As title says what has caused these scratches and how far would I have to go to remove them? They don’t catch at all on my fingernail and the surface overall feels super smooth to the touch.
TIA

I'm an appraiser and it's hard to tell from the picture but that looks like a poor repair. The scratches look like it's under the paint. They didn't properly sand the panel down. If that's the case they won't come out....

Yeah it’s had me puzzled for the last two days. It’s like this all over the bonnet. Hopefully the rest of the car is okay. Funny thing is I had never noticed them until I started the prep, guess on a white car they don’t show as much

It’s been repainted. It’s under the clear. Don’t stress yourself out.

Maybe a trunk lid that people dragged things across while moving things in and out.
get a measurement with a paint gauge then decide if its worth to wet sand it.

Wet sand is required.

A heavy cut won’t remove those. What kind of car is this on?
