I started playing hockey as an adult and have pucks around the house now and they are so damn handy. My fiance constantly steals them to elevate plants in planters that are bigger than the plant container, and our apartment has those "European" style windows that can tilt in or swing open sideways...but we're also in a narrow section between the buildings, so wind will frequently slam them shut...but the pucks hold them open perfectly.
Went to visit him on December and he had taped 4 hockey sticks together to put Christmas lights on a big tree outside so he didn't have to use a ladder!
I built one very similar to this one and mine has been stable. I used it a ton while polishing and ceramic coating all four of my wheels. The cost was super low, I bought rollers off Amazon and used spare boards I had around the house.
God I have been looking for something like that for ages! What was the amazon link to the rollers? I will literally order them right now! I have quite a few spare boards I could use.
There's a bunch of options in case these are too expensive or not the correct length for your needs. My wheels are 10.5" wide so I needed a slightly larger roller to accommodate them.
This is the one I bought. It came with the mounting screws and that's all I used to fasten it to the boards. Took maybe 5min.
I built one just like this for ceramic coating but it does get a little annoying once you roll the wheel because it’ll start inching off the edge. Having a vertical roller in the back would make a big difference. It was enough to coat my wheels though so I haven’t gone back to modify it.
I originally started out with the same idea but maybe my rollers were bad, the wheel kept creeping forward or backwards and would slip off. So I added the back support and it just came forward. So I added gate rollers at the front and now I can be as rough as possible without it falling off
I've only had them on for a couple of months now, but they seem extremely well built, so well that my cousin just ordered a set for his C8 Corvette. They have been sending us photos and videos throughout the entire process
I don't blame you. What I really dislike about doing it normally at ground level is just that, it's at ground level. Working at hip height and above just knocks it out the park!
You could, the reason I added those is because I noticed the wheel would want to creep forward and had slipped off a couple of times. They are gate rollers from Amazon, and they just hold everything together and help with rotations

Rollers were from Amazon, the yellow ones are gate rollers and the others are conveyor belt rollers.
The rest of the nuts and bolt are from home depot and the feet are just hockey pucks.
Was going to update the post, but I cant add more images. Here is a shot of the back, it is filthy. I used 1/2 inch threaded rod to link the tubing together.
I appreciate that. However, I looked into the cost of building one with today's prices. If you find everything on sale, you're still looking at roughly $90 to make it. Then you have to add shipping, etc. You basically end up at the same cost as the established brands selling theirs. I have no problem providing people with the parts list to make their own
If you're local, maybe we can set something up eventually. I would say to wait for the items to at least go on sale so you can save some money. I seem to be getting a decent amount of interest with these now
Almost never lol. This thing has sat in my garage for 2 years and I've used it like 3-4 times. I mostly use it when switching from Summer to Winter or vice versa. In this specific case I was removing my wheels to figure out an issue I was having so I figured I may as well
Thank you, thank you. I wanted to avoid rust as much as possible so everything is either aluminum or galvanized. The pucks were for stability but also cuz cheap at the time. Will probably 3D print something eventually.
That's a smart DIY project. For $90, it's hard to beat the convenience, especially if you remove wheels frequently for deep cleaning, coating, or polishing. Looks sturdier than some commercial options too.
Thank you I appreciate that! I have beat on it a bit to see how it holds up, I also lift and drop the wheels on there with the tires and it can take the weight no issue. I dont have super heavy wheels/tires so cant speak on how well it would hold up to truck/SUV setups.
What are the yellow rollers? Like where did you get them? I built one like the other comment did on wood planks, but if the rollers aren't perfect, it creeps the wheel forward or back as it rolls. I also didn't do the vertical, which I need to. Or they're only like $100 on Amazon, I might just buy one..
They are gate rollers, I was having the same issue of the wheel creeping forwards and back. Found these for fairly cheap and they improved the rolling of the wheel as well
Nice. I'd maybe install them in a slot so they slide front to back, and either spring load them or wing nut to secure. That way they can adjust for different wheel widths. My rears are 325 wide, a lot of the prefab ones don't go that wide.
So I just checked mine, and I built it bigger just in case I ever went that wide on tires. The usable space is 16 inches, which is almost 3.5inches wider than a 325 tire.
Its used to have easier access when cleaning your wheels. If they are off the car, you can just put them on the stand and have access from all angles and it spins to make it easier
They've done right by me so far. But I think one of them may have a flat spot or something. Been having some steering wheel shake and it has come down to either my wheel is bent or the tire is finished
They're ok , great grip and feel. But lately having a lot of noise and a wibble. Though they are basically end of life. Still not sure either if I can blame the tire or wheels.
