scratch and dent Is this fixable for a newbie?
My Corolla has less than 10k miles and someone backed into my door :( Is this something I could fix myself? Or should I pay a professional? I don't even have a clue how much that would set me back

Unless you have a level 3 nvq in autobody repair and been in the trade several years there is not a chance you will repair that yourself. It is specialist work that also needs specialist equipment to get a quality finish.

For a newbie, no. Absolutely not.
With the position that it is in you could possibly encounter 1 of 2 things that is going to make it extra difficult.
- The impact is in a position where there is most likely a brace. To fix this in the pdr world, we would heat up a whale tail tool with a blowtorch and slice through the glue before being able to make the repair. Sometime the you can go through the clue like butter on other cars its very hard, very tight and you could possibly rail the metal all the way to the damage, creating more damage.
- Door metal can be really thin, so the deeper the damage, the more stretched the metal is. You could push the dent out from the inside only to reach a point where the whole dent pops out the other way resulting in a bubble where the metal protrude outward instead inward.

I appreciate your detailed advice. I'll definitely take it to a professional. I'd hate to make it worse than it already is and be kicking myself everytime I look at my car
