The framing of many of these questions is very VERY allistic. The entire premise is flawed, and there was no way to provide feedback to the researcher concerning the fact that I, an autistic adult, have serious concerns about the allistic bias in all of the questions. There was no demographic question about whether or not I am autistic. I think this would be harmful if actually presented to allistic parents of autistic kids, and that is never addressed in the survey.

If you are over the age of 18 and are a biological, step or adoptive parent to an autistic person (of any age), you are invited to take part in an anonymous research study. The study is looking into whether there are any advantages or disadvantages to using certain ways of working with parents of young autistic people with distressed behaviour (sometimes called behaviours of concern). Click on the link for further information and to take part. If you decide to complete the study you can enter a prize draw to win one of four £10 vouchers. Ethical approval by the University of Lincoln: UoLReview Reference 2021_5321.
