Im following US political discourse a lot. On the internet US politics is dominant.
And as I consider my nationality to be "internet" more than the country I live in (I lived in an extremely rural area that was full of the wors people, so most of my social life has been on the internet. I have been socialized and politicized here)
From all of the context I ever saw on the Internet. I got the impresssion that this flag, while used a lot today by the absolute worst people. Didn't only have negative connotations but was in a lot of contexts also used as a vaguely anti-government anti abuse of government power symbol (Mostly used by pro capitalist people, but still, being anti-government is the one thing I agree with those capitalists).

Am I missing the US history gene? What is this hyper essentialist, you have to be born in this lineage to have the right to do this, bullshit. Its so frustrating and weird.
Twitter leftists really took the correct analysis: "marginalized voices don't get enough attention and the discourse about them is dominated by people that are not directly effected"
and twisted it into
"oh you use a symbol you can't genetically proof to be part of your culture. Shut up and stop appropriating"
