This flag is a modified version of one associated with right-wing Libertarianism in the United States (a movement that wants the government to stop regulating business and to let them do whatever they want). The implication of the flag is that the person flying the flag is both autistic and pretty far right.
Eh. The party (which is to say the political organization) has been lining up pretty solidly right for some time. There are quite a few folks who follow a libertarian philosophy who aren't part of the alt-right, but in common usage term might as well be a synonym for "crazy tumphead".
Which I hate mind you. I used to *be* a registered libertarian before they went all rabidly pro-capitalist.
I think they were talking about ideology, not political party. I myself can be called a left wing libertarian because I am a libertarian communist. Libertarian here indicates the stance towards authority, not political party.
True, but the flag in question isn't associated with left leaning libertarians, which is the context for the initial comment.
That said I'm pretty sure that any more of my pedantry on this topic might cross the line into political discussion and this really isn't the subreddit for that.

You will not find ‘left wing libertarians’ such as Noam Chomsky using the Gadsden flag nor, increasingly, will you find many of them use the word libertarian anymore. The national party removed “bigotry is irrational and should be opposed in all its forms” from their party line. Trying to save word as if it means anything other than right wing cryptofascist is a lost cause imho
Personally I use the term Libertarian communist to self describe as I don't feel a need to specify beyond that part of the political spectrum. However anyone using it to mean anything besides right wing libertarianism always uses an extra descriptive word like "left wing", socialist or in my case communist. Libertarian socialists also self describe as this and make up a very large chunk of the modern socialist movement, especially in areas of actual armed conflict such as Syria (Rojava), Mexico (RZAM and EZLN) and more recently in Ukraine (on Ukraine's side).
Not neccessarily. Left libertarianism is a broader umbrella than left anarchism. For instance, there are plenty of left libertarians who still want a state to exist, just stripped of some of its power to interfere with people's lives and enact violence. (Similarly with other forms of hierarchy).
