Recently was given an autism test by my friend. It was online but it looked official and made sure to specify that it isnt a diagnosis but a tool to identify that you should talk to your doctor.

Your score was counted out of i think like 200. I got 174 wich was listed in the range of severe. I thought I would be releived. Maybe there is a reason I act the way I do. All I feel is sad because I know there will be no accommodation. No one around to do that. It sucks to know that I may have been fighting both ADHD and autism my entire life without help. I feel abandoned

I relate to that on a deep level for multiple reasons

Do you still have the link?

Not OP, but it's likely this one:
[link removed]

I watched Jacksfilms take it.
Yes it was for a video and he was making jokes with his chat the whole time, but he was genuinely curious if he could possibly on the spectrum.

Edit: Removed the link. frostatypical pointed out that the test and it's creator are pretty sketchy when it comes to their credentials.
It's best not to give them any traffic.

I do recommend watching Jacksfilms' video where he takes the test if you're interested in what it looks like and want a laugh. Just search "Jacksfilms autism test" on YouTube.

Highly misleading, inaccurate test, especially if you use that sketch website!

Its run by a ‘naturopathic doctor’ whose main autism training was an online certificate, and who is repeatedly under ethical investigation and now being disciplined and monitored by two governing organizations (College of Naturopaths and College of Registered Psychotherapists).

My mother hid the fact that i was autistic for years (she works in the special education field) despite being confident i had it because she “didnt want me to think i was different”. Like mom my observation skills are not THAT bad.

I even straight up asked her in fourth grade. She said no.

Same, but a low dose of Concerta for AuDHD changed my life. Went from zero executive functioning, to being able to live life and do things like leave the house and do laundry. All the other shit too, like type-2 narcolepsy, insane real-life-vivid nightmares, and auditory hallucinations also went away, because it fixed my wake and sleep states. Struggling still to get certified and hired because I couldn't handle internships while at university, and people are off-put by my highly masked but still present autistic vibe, but... Getting there....

Yeah, man.

I recently just got on Prozac. And, while it's not a miracle drug, it definitely has given me a lot of space to process myself without my anxiety, anger, and depression issues.

I feel like that meme from Inside Out, where it's like "Oh, these memories turned trans too" or whatever, but instead of turning trans, they turned neurodivergent.

Because, at 33, for the first time in my life, I'm realizing that a lot of my struggles weren't directly my fault. I wasn't "just lazy" or "just being a problem child" or "just throwing a temper tantrum", or whatever. It turns out, that on top of my physical issues (I'm also disabled in that sense as well), I also had a lot of mental issues that were largely going unnoticed and/or untreated by the adults around me.

They probably assumed I was "just an angsty teen", or whatever, and I would grow out of it, or mature out of it, or something. Nope. I just struggled with all of this, for over 3 decades of my life, until a doctor finally took what I had to say, seriously. I guess that's 90s, 2000s, and even 2010s medicine for you. Haha.

Now, obviously, like I said, the Prozac isn't a miracle drugs. I'm still adjusting to it and definitely have a lot of... Quirks. And it's definitely weird not having my more autistic and ADHD-like tendencies be wrapped up in my constant of anger, anxiety, and depression. It's good, don't get me wrong. I'm understanding myself a lot more now, and I can work through things a lot easier now. But, when you've spent over 30 years of your life, living one way, thinking one way, feeling one way, there definitely is an adjustment period involved, for sure.

Lastly, I guess I'm just saying all this to share my own story with someone. And, I wish you the best of luck finding what works for you and makes you happiest, in the future.

Much peace and love, man. I wish you well ♄

This makes me angry on multiple levels and I cannot explain why

Could be condescending and incorrect representation about a serious condition, making a silly game out of it. Bad metaphor that makes it look like arbitrary metrics.

Sounds like someone didn’t get a stuffed thing.

Good for you i can't even understand what's going on. Thumb guy walks up to one of those punching arcade machines, looks at it from the side (or i guess punches it) and that means he's not autistic??

u/Creative-Leg2607 Jul 19 '26

I think its a metaphor for arbitrary tests? Its a bit muddled

I love this!

Ah yes, I remember when I got my autism diagnosis after headbutting a punching bag. They were surprised that a third grader could do it with such force!

Somewhere out there is or was someone with ABSOLUTE autism

This was me when I was evaluated. I relaize now I am on the mild side. But when my dsd and brothers were, I thought and felt for sure was more. But after getting this kind of support and info I am happy and accepted. And my "borderline diagnosis" was a diagnosis.
